We had some "strong wind" a few nights ago. On the way home from work last night, I decided to check on the garage and see if there was any new damage. (Not my garage, and there's already a small hole in the roof.)

Something seemed off when I went back there, but it took me a few minutes to figure out what it was.

Way back when I unloaded the replacement suspension parts from the back of the truck, I set them next to the garage so I wouldn't have to move them every time I worked on the car. I had a '72 truck rear, a set of truck A-arms, spindles, and rotors, and the old crossmember and broken A-arms off my '51 (because I didn't feel like tripping over them, either).

You guessed it. Somebody made off with the whole stash.

Now for the lucky part. About two weeks ago, I started trying to loosen the rusted bolts on the disc brake parts. Some time last week, I decided I'd pushed my luck long enough and moved them inside. I remember thinking as I dragged them around the garage that somebody would really have to want those heavy SOBs to bother moving them. Those are the only parts I still have.

    Wait, it gets better.

Those were the only parts I was for sure going to use. I want disc brakes. I can live without a 5 lug conversion in back, and the pumpkin was a little nasty inside anyway. Oh, and the rear end was free. The '51 parts were mostly junk.

Sure I wish I'd been the one selling them for s**** instead of the ****head that took them from my friend's yard, but I'll count my blessings if this is all I ever lose.

A similar thing happened to me. I own two properties, and my garage is at the one I don't live in, in the country. I stopped by after work one day, only to notice that someone had made off with the thirty year old Snapper riding mower that didn't run any more. If the master thief that took it had half a brain, he'd have broken into the garage and made a REAL haul! As the cops often say, "Thank God most criminals are stupid".

Exactly. I knew I was pushing my luck anyway. There's an apartment complex right behind the house and an alleyway running between the two. It was only a matter of time.

  5. Put some more stuff back there and hook it up with a hidden wire to an electric cattle fence power unit -

I have a friend with some retirement property in Missouri. There's just a two rut path from the back road throught the brush and trees to get to it. In the barn he had four complete Model A's and a whole pile of fenders, frames, bumpers, grille shells, headlights, etc. He went to the property after not being there for four mounths and found tracks from two semis that had carted the entire thing away. Never found them. Another guy in South Dakota, Donnas Oakleaf, ran a salvage yard north of Sioux Falls for years. When he retired, he kept all the cars older than 55 and the tri-five chevys and T-birds. In this inventory were two B-400's, one with dual side-mounts and one with a single. Somebody got in and stole all four front fenders. Apparently, B-400 fenders aren't the same as a normal deuce because they were recognized at a big California swap meet. They guy was charged with grand theft auto and interstate transportation of stolen goods since the insurance covered them 15 years ago for $5000 each. Sometimes the bad guy gets caught.

You should just throw all of your stash out in my shed. That is what frizby does! Ha Ha Ha

Melvin (yngrodder) didn't get so lucky. The tornado went right down his street and ****ed all of the siding off of his house. He says it may still be 5 days before he gets power.

He said that by the time he gets power all of the roundup pictures will be 30 pages back! Ha Ha Ha

Sure! I figure I'll have to haul that damn Buick out first. It'll look good parked in front of my house.

Good to hear your house didn't get hit. I'm hoping Catlin didn't get hit too hard. Be a shame if my truck blew away.
