Or, How bad do you want it? Found this 40 Ford Coupe following an old lead. It's 10-15' over an embankment at the edge of a farm field. The area was used as a dump years ago, with parts of other cars and junk laying around. I've seen some cars on the HAMB that were close to being gone get rebuilt. A Willys Coupe, 32 Ford anything, Lincoln Zephyr, these are iconic cars in our hobby. Is a 40 Ford worth all this trouble? This one is missing everything, all that's there is the body. The part of the frame left is a section under the rear of the car. Vermont had many dirt tracks operating at one time and as such, coupe bodies are very scarce, even for me, a guy that's out hunting old cars every weekend. This one survived only because it was hidden from view. Is it worth getting out of there? How easy is it to come up with a rolling ch***is?
Yeah I'd grab it, a ch***is would be way easier to find than a body you can afford. I've seen way worse 40's saved
You need to understand that '40 coupes are in the top 5 most desirable hot rod candidates....you named two others...Willys coupe and '32 anything....the other two escape me at the moment.
I would acquire it if reasonable just for the parts it offers. Everything is rebuildable if you have the desire and its a desirable car to start with.
People have started with far worse and built some beautiful cars! The worse part is who owns the property and will they let you remove it? KK
I wouldn't mess with that, it's too much work. Where is it again? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Better move on it fast, things always dissapers if you think about them to long.I would've been back next day. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
At least take a saws all in there and cut off everything above the ground. That's enough to turn a 4 door into a coupe. BFC
Heck yeah, get it! It can't be a total loss. My '50 looked like it was dredged from the bottom of the ocean. I don't know why I bothered, but I'm too far along now to quit. I would take that car if it took ten years to build.
I see an old gas pump there, throw that in the trunk! Being from Hudson Falls, N.Y., I spent a lot of summer nights at the races with my Dad and always lusted after all the Chevy coupes ( not so much the coaches). Great find, should be saved from this fate, Carp
