My 12 yr old (13 on March 20!) has driven my '50 Ford and will drive it to school when it comes time. If she wants it...it's hers.

My 4 and 6 year old daughters will have old cars available, we'll see how much I can instill along the way.

My avatar shows my daughter's car. She is very in tune with hot rods, but the jury is out as far as what she'll want when she gets old enough to drive. She is VERY interested in the salvage yard next to one of the drag strips we race at. She gravitates to the classics.

I had planned on "willing" my 56 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery to my nephew, but now my 24 Y/O daughter is insistent I pass it along to her. She tends to not take very good care of things, and that's my real issue; I just could't stand to see how it might wind up. I guess only time will tell, and I won't be here anyway. Yes.
Bought it for her when she turned 16. I restored it when she went to college.
She has owned it now for 26 years. Still driving and pulling maintenance on it.

my daughters are not interested in cars at all. but my 8 yr old grand daughter is. the faster you go the better she likes it. we got stoped for speeding and she told the officer but he did not have the peddle all the way to the floor . frist time i ever got away with speeding

  15. Unlike another offspring, my little girl has limited herself to only two hot rods; a '36 Tudor and a channeled roadster.

My little girl, she is now 20 has been riding along with me in my Model A since she could walk. She was the first in my family to drive the Model A on her learners permit. I put together for her a 73 Mach 1 with a big block and a 4 speed which she drove to high school and was the envy of many.
A proud dad when she got caught burning out leaving the school while her gf was videoing it. [emoji106] She drives the Mustang more than I and an occasional spin in the Model A. [IMG]

If she does that, and takes up blacksmithing (I see all that equipment in the background), she may very well have it made. Good farriers and ornamental iron work is always in demand. The first time I took my daughter to the drag strip, I was really hoping she liked it; she had enough after about 20 minutes and we left. Got to let them find their own thing. She did do extremely well in competitive gymnastics, and went to gymnastics meets all over the country; now she's an instructor. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Of course I love my parents but man would it have been cool to have parents that have old cars like you guys, having someone to learn from in person and to be able to experience actually driving an old car with a loved one. Much respect to all of you giving your kids a chance that most kids never have.

My 36 yo daughter and her husband have a '72 Nova (350/T-5) that was a project that they both worked on together. I've seen pix of her knee and elbow deep in grease and paint from that. But when she was in high school I let her drive Clarence (see avatar) to school a few times and she rode shotgun with me many times. She also was the trophy girl at my club's car shows when she was a teenager. She is one of the few of her generation that knows the difference between a '37 and '38 Chevy, or '32 and '33 Ford, or etc.

  22. My daughter who will turn 48 next month still has her first car, a 70 mustang 428 that is not a Mach 1.
It was bought for a race car she was the first to title it. no power steering, drum brakes. Base model only options were 428, c6 tran, 9 inch rear and hood scoop, I changed the gears replaced the slicks with street tires, added exhaust, and took the side bars out of the rollcage, which made getting in and out with a dress on a little more lady like
Most guys were surprised to hear it coming and see a girl driving. It thumps pretty hard and is a bear to drive, but she loved it She dont drive it much any more, but its always ready

When I was younger ,I loved girls who liked old cars. The cars usually had big back seats.
Now I have daughters and granddaughters and make sure they drive little cars or 2 seaters.
