I love these "Cut-up Rod's",there are out there car art wies, this one was a insiered many more. The Spook here in Miami was the frist cut-up I had got to help a little, working on with the Gorage Ikick that built it in 1959,it used a wreked 55 t-bird as the base car and parts of caddy.
Yes I did it is in there, Fritz and I cut it out of a car in a wisconsin junk yard....bees everywhere.......
I saw this car sitting outside in an alley in Detroit probably 30 -35 years ago, stripped down to the bare essentials. I wish I had followed up on it then to buy it, as it is one of my Cushenberry favorites. Glad to see it is in good hands for a restoration.
Interesting car to say the least. I have two questions. What the hell is a Jowett Jupiter and a Borgward?
A Jowett jupiter is 2 seater aluminum bodied british sports car built from 51 - 54 A Borgward is a german car, The rear window in the dream rod is from a 57 borgward isabella sedan.
Rear window in the Dream Rod... but was it also the rear window in the Borgward? or was it the windshield in the Borgward used for a back window in the Dream Car? Is it installed turned upside down? Just curious....
Mark, doing some research tonight on another car and I discovered that the Dream Rod was designed by Bob Hubbach ( now retired Chrysler designer) and ( Chuck Pelly ( designer of Scarabs and Chapparal racers ) You can Google and find their info. Asigned it as was published.ways thought the Car Craft staff designed it as had been published. Great car.
Thanks man I appreciate the info. I ran across a pic of it in early construction that I had never seen before too. Here it is ... Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
