Interesting to know how many teams ran/tried these heads along with the Ford counter part?

My dads in the middle, Al Mahany to the right. I have sat in that car many times. I have many unpublished pics of that car in the pits. My mother would pilot the push car while I would ride along. Ahh the memories, Sioux City Nobles

Dennis, from what I've heard over the years from racers, there was never a real issue with the M/T heads, either for the Pontiacs or the FE Fords, it was that the blocks (both the Pontiac and the Fords) were just not as stout as the Chryslers. The same for the SOHC heads, according to Pink. It was not the chains or anything about the heads persay, it's that the blocks would not hold up with 75+ percentage of pop. Jim Crooke's beautiful "Assassin" AA/FD with an Ed Pink SOHC eventually had to change to a 392 hemi (also by Pink) for the same reason...

He went all the way to the quarter-finals at Phoenix a couple of weeks ago. One of the really good guys in the sport.

Gary if that red modified roadster was a so-cal car, it might have the Kal Nelson surplus car from Sun Valley for his boy to run as they had one like that
