The 150 was ran at George Field Il. and the above pic. could well have been taken there. My first trip down the strip was there

    Great picture,
Question time though...... What is the gauge for or attached to?

Interesting photo. This is McEwen in what had been the Tirend car running in the latter part of 1969 as Beebe and McEwen sans the forward body panels. After John Mulligan's fatal incident at the US Nationals Beebe put the late hemi from the Fighting Irish car in Goose's car to fulfill the booking for the Beebe and Mulligan team. The car eventually ended up in the hands of Ron Kolb (Leland's son) and survived (at least from the motor back) to be restored to the early hemi Tirend configuration.

  14. Looks like a 100 lb gauge.
    Line running down behind block.
    I'm guessing oil pressure.

  15. It's an oil pressure gage, Garlits ran one on all his FED as far as I know.

  17. Oil pressure. Was always right in view so that as you were pushed down the return loop you could see when oil pressure came up before you lit the mag. That way you didn't hammer out the bottom end when the engine fired.

  18. UK - Stewart-Warner ran a magazine ad in the '70s showing the cockpit of, I believe, Big's digger. Stated he only ran one gauge. It was oil pressure. Possibly in an issue around here, I'll look.

Thanks guys. I'm planning on only 2 gauges on mine. Oil and tach.

I would think a metal line instead of the nylon/plastic oil pressure line.. I realize the soft line is I guess more pliable but melting it if you were to burp the blower but I guess if you got lift off and fire it won't matter....

Ditto. 75 miles for me. Would walk to a bigger street than the one I lived on to hang out at the newstand hoping to see some cool cars when the owners would stop in for a soda or cigs.

That looks like the Davis/Ingram Jewel "T" in the other lane, although I've never seen a picture of it with a small block in it.

1966-67 Irwindale 001.jpg Does anyone remember this Anglia Panel? This was Irwindale 1966-67. I think it had a bb chevy. He put it up on the back bumper this day. It shook him up pretty good. He stopped, got out, and walked around for a bit.

Love how the steering runs between the manifold and vally pan.

Looks like the steering box is up-side down with the arm up and no U joint just a straight rod to the front end

His interviews were the best how are you doing today Eddie ' Oh boy we are having fun today' and how cool is that
