Customs What in the HAIL is This?

A friend posted this on Facebook. What... is it? Why? Why? WHY?

 

Foreign vehicle with US styling cues. Perhaps with some additions by owner.

 

Russian Batmanski ***ault van!!

 

OK, there is some photoshop going on. A guy admited it. Here is the "van" as it was on the island of Malta. Some one ID'ed it as a Bedford "military truck" with added bumpers from a '58 Pontiac. Again... why?

 

Styling on the rear of this(or a similar one) looks like a '59, or so, Chevy impressed into it.

 

It's so ugly in the coolest way. I kinda want one.
Funny thing is, I would hate all that styling on a car, but on the van it's kinda cool for some weird reason.

It is a custom movable EYESORE.

 

I've got a spare windshield for one of those if anyone needs it.

 

Looks like a misfit from the movie Cars.

Actually CNN posted an article about this. It seems a young Russian was enamoured with all things USA and built this when he was in high school. Went into the army and lost track of it. Remembered the vehicle of his youth and finally recovered it. Vladimir Putin is one happy boy!

 

I was going to say it looks like an old English Commer, Thames or that funky Chevy Corvair (Greenbriar) van that did the rounds in emails a while ago, similar to this forward control one

 

To answer the initial question,,, Ill Conceived???

 

Show a picture to your kids and tell them that's what they will be driving to High School if they don't eat their veggies.

At first I thought the OP was asking about the flowering bush.
But then I thought "Naw, everyone knows it's a crepe myrtle so he must be talking about the car".

 

Quit looking at Facebook....

 

Neighbor across the alley had one just like it, when I was a kid; he said it was from Kanada.

 

That would explain why so many kids today are not interested in cars, or getting drivers licenses.
