    Hi y'all.

I rebuilt my carb last week then installed it and a new fuel pump in my ford. Any suggestions on what should be next to tune her up?
    Thanks!

    Hey,
Some plugs might be in order, depending on how old the old ones are. Pull a couple and see what they look like. Check the gap, etc... Check the points.
Are you running an air filter? How about a fuel filter with that newly rebuilt pump?

Flatman is right...add an inline fuel filter...note that the multi part see thru filters can and do leak...and can break.

If it were my heap, I'd change the following:

Points & Condenser in the dizzy
    Spark plugs
    Leads
    Fuel filter
    Earl change with new filter
    Air cleaner
Check my hoses for cracks and replace if needed
    How's the battery?

Depending on HOW nasty she looked I'd prolly also have the trans serviced and the rearend fluids checked and changed. You can get that done easy enough at a local shop.

the fuel filter, and it would be wise to check out the coolant as long as you are under the hood as well.

aside from that, what Brandy said.

All these guys are right, but don't forget a good set of spark plug wires too! A good set of plugs and properly functioning distributor are nothing if worn out wires are cross firing. I like Accel 8mm Spiral core, and a univeral set can be had from Jegs or Summit for under $50.

If you're using an electric fuel pump, you'll want to install 2 in line fuel filters. One should go before the pump so that and rust/debris get's stopped before it destroys your pump, and then 1 in the engine compartment. Though it is true that the gl*** filters can break and cause an engine compartment fire, it is mostly caused by mounting the gl*** filters in close proximity to exhaust or where the filter will be exposed to rapid temperature change. Mount it on the fenderwell and you'll never have problems. The gl*** filters are nice because you can see if you are collecting debris in the fuel and if you have adequate supply.

Engine tune ups are important, but how are the brakes?

I say leads, you say wires.......hows abouts tomatos?;) :D

Brakes are ALWAYS good to check but if you go that far.....with the tire on, grab the top and bottom and see if you can rock it. If you can, replace your wheel bearings. It's a SCARY thing when you lose one.:D If the fronts are good.....REPACK them in grease!!!
