Finally getting back to assembling my '60 Starliner after being away from it for quite awhile. Time to mount the body back on the frame and it doesn't look like I got all the hardware back from the body guy. I have a shop manual which shows every detail except for an exploded view diagram of the body hardware as it mates to frame. If anyone has such a diagram (assuming such a thing exists), or knows the layout for a 1960, I'd appreciate the help. It's quite a bit different than a '63 which is the earliest diagram I've found so far. Thanks
I presume it would be similar to this with upper and lower mounts sandwiching the frame bracket? I'm looking at generic Energy suspension mountings for my 46 Olds and am temporarily using 1/2" reinforced rubber conveyor belt strips that I've cut into 2"x2" pads. Not sure if I'll use round or rectangular mounts as originals were shot so I have no idea what they looked like. The workshop manual refers to pads however there are no diagrams.
Excellent! Thanks MGTStumpy. I may have to do some improvising as you've done. Had hoped to do a "set and forget" but it may not be in the cards. Some of the bushing mounts are conical making it a little more involved. Also some mounts are threaded, a real mixed bag. Weird to me that someone hasn't come up with a kit. Really wish I'd been there when the body was removed. Still looking if anyone has a drawing.
Anything from '57 to '59 will be close to the '60. I know there is a body mount kit for the '57 and '58 that will work on the '59, so it may spill over to the '60. Below is a link to the B7A-5001 kit carried by Macs. It shows the stack up of parts fairly well. http://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_m...e-hardtop-and-station-wagon-and-ranchero.html
Thanks Bob! It's looking like the 60/61s are tweeners. The view of that part kit was nice. It does show that the bushings are different, good to know before ordering a $200 kit. The down-side is that it shows the large washers with the tangs off to the side, so it's not clear where those go. I am getting closer thanks to feedback so I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually.
