  2. Great job Don. I think {Thunder Road } !
I didn't realize you competed in shows. Did you win? Nice detail on the ch***is. I enjoy the show at Nats east. But my builds would never be good enough to enter. But as someone said, they are great therapy. And just plan fun to build. and look at. Ron...

......................Thanks, Ron, no win for me. This was the only time I had ever done a show and even though it was a fairly small event, there were some extremely talented builders in attendance. My junk wasn't even close.:(

LilBlue82, I also collected a lot of diecast and still have a few plastic. Usually nothing bigger than 1:24. Some of my models are of vehicles I have or had owned. In some cases building the model first helped with my design ideas for the real build. It is also nice after I part with one of my builds that I still have a model of it to enjoy. I also like to find and restore or repurpose older metal cars and trucks.
There are a couple nice threads (Sunday Models and Diecast Tuesday) on here you should check out. A lot of creative and talented HAMB members still enjoy building models and playing with toys.

At one time I tried to build models of the full size cars that I owned or was building. Then I got out of the habit. Last month I had heart surgery and have been banned from the shop for a few more weeks so I am back to the models. It is very the****utic and now perhaps I can do some that have been sitting around for awhile.

Woah! That's really cool, I don't have that many Hot Wheels (some...but not that many), but I've got near fifty un***embled 1/25 model kits in my closet. Some mine, some my dads. Not including Roth models, most of which I've already built.

Oh, and I like your wall art behind the cars as well. lol

When I was a kid my brother and I had this little room up stairs in our parents house that was our model building room there's time's that our dad would yell up there it's time to take a break boys your getting a little too giggly, the glue was alot better in them days.... 45+ years later I'm still building them but just don't get all giggly like the old days .... I still have some of my old one would have more but when my brother and I would get pissed off at the other we would blast each other's models off the shelves with BB guns........ Here's a couple of hot wheels etc. I have right now every thing is packed up so I started bringing some out for little desk top car shows , I did this one of some drag cars for Tuesday's die cast next week maybe some from the show car circuit.....[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Great thread. Love the detail in the models pictured. About three years ago I had a stroke, my right hand was almost uncontrollable, as soon as I got out of the hospital I headed out to my cave and dug out the model cars I had stashed away years ago and started ***embling them. The first one was a mess as you can imagine but I slowly gained control of my hands and now am back to building full sized cars.

I love this thread. Brings me back. I'm 38 now, but remember building models with my younger brother & my Dad. I remember doing a 57 corvette & painting the whole thing with a paint brush. It looks horrible. I also remember building a 1957 Chevy g***er painted black witch *****in decals. There still in the family somewhere. I think my little brother has them. Ha ha.
I built this plane (F8F Bearcat) for my Grandpa a few years ago to be an exact replica of one of the photos he had when he was a Navy Plane Capt. At Corpus Christy in Texas. He later served on the USS Coral Sea. I wired up a little motor inside of it with a battery pack on the back of the display. The propeller moves some air. When I was ***embling it I was testing the motor & not thinking it was gonna be very powerful. I turned it on without holding on to the plane. The propeller kicked on and the plane hauled *** off the table & broke into a few pieces that I had to fix & re glue. Ha ha ha. Thanks for all the great model pics. I'm really enjoying this thread.

I'm not very serious about it.. I tossed the tan coupe after botching the chop and I'll try over with the gray coupe. 34model.jpg 34modelsX2.jpg

The Corsair is another of my favorites. Hope you guys didn't mind a few old war birds. There not cars, but the are the muscle cars the sky.

  23. Nope, your definitely not alone, I've slowed down a lot the last 10 years or so just due to lack of time, but I've got at least a 100 unbuilt kits in storage, and a several 100's diecast cars, some on display, most in sealed containers in storage. Working and going to school ( both full time) right now so building is at a hiatus for a while.

I'm currently building a '61 Ford Starliner. I painted it candy red with a white roof. I'll post a picture when I'm done. :)

The last one I built though was a five window '32 Ford that I painted gloss black.

    Another model car thread?
    Well, OK.
I haven't been building models in several years, my fingers don't seem to work as well as they used to (which still didn't result in very well done models).
I still can build a 1 on 1 scale, and a few months ago, I added a few more all steel models to the first 125 I built almost 10 years ago. These all steel cars (and the tilt bed) are not really to any scale, but they are between 8" long and 15" long. Gene

My Mom saved these in the attic from when I was a kid. I haven't built any models recently, but still like the same kinds of cars. Too busy building real ones now.

This is the inside of my closet. You can’t see all the models in the picture, but that’s a lot of them.
