after 5 weeks it rolled out a complete ch***is , looks like a car instead of a pile of tubing. mount the fenders and radiator support and it goes home, I like the way it turned out, thought you guys might enjoy it...
wow??? the whole frame is built from scratch? I dont see any willys frame left..... I haven't been following your build, but It looks all fabricated.?????.. 2 X 3..???.... you really should box the front of the ladder bar brackets .... whats the steering setup????? how does the nose fit on it.....??????? otherwise it looks pretty good....... LUKESTER
Always nice to roll them out into air....changes the whole look. er, unless you work in one of those huge garages.
\ I build ch***is here on a jig, and never have had a prob with comp engineerings bar brackets, but thanks i like the way it came out , first willys frame of three right now
Great work as always! Got a question for ya if you don`t mind? Why do the rear shocks run tottally vertical and not at an angle? I have seen them done both ways and was just kinda wondering, why? Any benefits to either way? Pro`s & Con`s? Thank`s
they are actuall at a 10 degree angle to the rear for the arc in the rearend with a ladder bars , also you lose some spring rate when you lay them in at the top i think will work either way, if it was a conventinal street car id put the coil overs at an angle of 20 degrees for road shock , i think it rides better that way . but on this with 3 way adj shocks and a little drg strip use this is the best for it i think . and it aint gonna ride good anyway with a short wheelbase haha...
and we are using a vega cross steer with chevy spindles ala speedway today we do the radiator support and then the fender mounts
that is a speedway street rod rear kit i use them all the time and they are cheap and stop great and look good, my race car ran them and was a 165 mpg car and stopped great ... whole kit is like 229 or something and they sell the brackets also for about 20 dollars
Hey Sam . . . nice work. Question for yah -- how much horsepower are you going to be running with this setup? The reason I'm asking (and it is just my speculation . . . and probably tendency to over-engineer everything) -- but I'd be a little nervous about torque twist in the front section. As it currently sits, I only see one small tubular cross member -- all the way at the front? Will you be running a side-to-side motor plate or other potentail cross-members anywhere near the front? Again - just my speculation . . . I'm building a blown 392 for my 34 coupe -- am always pondering strength, flex, torque, etc.. Have you ran this type of frame with a high horsepower application? Let me know what you think . . . I figure the more we can learn and ponder, the better our projects will turn out! Dale
being a street car and limited strip use with a 500 hp stroker sbc it shoud be fine we use this deal to mid nines withjout any problem whatsoever with a cage of course but on this without it will only be in the 11 sand i think will be ok, it has side mtr mounts and mostly solid mounted which lets the mtr be part of the equasion , thanks ,,,,,,,,,
it is done and ready to go to the next step, body work and paint, looks like a real g***er i think . dont know yet if we are doing this or not ...but it has been a fun build for sure... NEXT...........??
