Most of us old farts a****st the 300000 odd H.A.M.B. members have read about the New York to Paris race but probably not so many of the younger generation. Here is real history guys. These photos were recently found whilst restoring an old 1880s roadhouse cafe in the small country of Luxemburg. Included are pics of one of the contestants that the organizers deleted from the end results due to his sabotage efforts. The eccentric professor Count Jack Daehtalf Reverof . He efectivly sabotaged at least 6 contestants cars along their epic journey. History knows that he was locked up in Kazachstan where his car was also confi****ed. Surprisingly he escaped with help from one of the American teams who he had earlier tried to sabotage. They managed to steal his car back and he even made it to Paris. On returning to the U.S.A. he was ofcourse labelled a villain by the public. The rest of his life he only used his first name of Jack. The American public knew him as a Lemon and thats how he went down in history. You would think Hollywood would make a movie.
Great pics, thanks very much. They probably skinned the bears on route to help with the cold, must of been freezing. Saw the above car in the Peterson museum a couple of yrs ago,or a couple of anyway.
No mention of Jack Corrigan? He missed the start of the race and decided to fly ahead of the cars and illegally catch-up to the pack. Instead he flew the wrong way and became the first person to unofficially cross the Atlantic in an easterly direction by air. He later became a US citizen and lived in Texas. He's the great grandfather of Douglas Corrigan, another famous Texas Aviator.
So Daehtalf Reverof did,nt register with anyone ? Just read it backwards, shall try better next year.
