Picked up some stock model A rear ends few weeks back, a****st them was a 32 axle internals with half shafts - Can I run this in a A casing ?? (Stock Flathead powered modified) Also was a centre section not from an A - it has pinion shaft support and measures approx 10.5 inches dia with a width of 4 inches. Sorry no pics but Can anyone confirm if this is from a 32 or direct me to a in depth tech site Have done a search but no joy Finally can anyone recommend a supplier for bearings and gaskets - given I live in Great Britian Postal service / web site required Thanks in advance James
if what i recall to be true a 32 did not have a pinion support cast into the housing. I thought that the only difference was that a 32 had a 2 piece drive shaft( could be wrong) i also was reading a streerodder mag(i know i know ) and they did a huge tech artical on the 29-47 ford rear end( it was a few years ago) i hope this helps a bit tom try schniders for the gaskets and bearings. i know of cheaper places but i don't know if they ship over seas
It helps as the centre section I have definately has the Pinion support cast into it - anyone any idea's as to how I can identify its year. Will try to post a pic but will not be for a day or so.
he 1932 had two different rears...almost all had one with no pinion support. his one uses axles, banjo, and R&P interchangeable with Model A, axle housings and all driveshaft stuff different. If your parts are from one of these, they will go into an A housing. Vey late '32's had the same rear (except for driveshaft length) as '33-4, with pinion support. I would suspect that late '32 type rears didn't make it to England til '33, as they are quite rare over here and it took the Ford of England plant until '34 or 5 to use up stockpiled '32 stuff!
Nervous Bob Froch in Norfolk can supply bearings and gaskets, his prices are probably the keenest in the UK. He's on 01359 230027.
