I stumbled across this pickup when I was picking up parts for a HAMBer in Canada. He asked for help from anyone living in my city and so I said no problem (small part and shipping). I first walked into the shop and saw this and had to ask if it was for sale (it was). I talked to the owner the next night, he bought it and built it in 1972, 1978 crate sbc, alum PG, a '55-'56 Chevy car rear and hasn't been started in about 20-25 yrs.. Looks pretty solid with lacquer paint that's starting to check, parallel leaf rear and a stock front end with some leafs removed. A deal was struck after the first person deal fell through and now it's at home. I still need to get the title into my name (Friday), sort out the spare parts and see if I can get it to fire. Yes, that's an 8 TRACK radio in the dash. Plans are to replace blown front brakes (stock) with F100 units, rebuild master, new brake hoses and rebuild rear wheel cylinders. Get it running, new tires and hopefully just drive it.
Stop hell - me thinks you're on a roll - what a find - bubba likes that truck - nice score Keep On Trucking !
If you got the $$$ DON'T stop. Ya can't take it with you, enjoy life now, the afterlife takes care of itself. I would buy that truck in a second if I could.
First thing I thought when I saw this was Ryan's not going to be happy- but its such a pretty little truck I am sure he will forgive you. Besides I think Ryann wants a flathead in one.
The truck looks like good driver quality. You don't need it and Ryan has been looking for one,he might set you up with lifetime alliance membership and a stack of green backs to get his hands on it. HRP
Stood in line @ the dmv today and it's now legally mine, so work can begin. I wanted a pickup, but wasn't seriously looking as I needed to sell the '54 panel first to make room. I looked at a '39 then a '36 over the last year and this one sorta just landed in my lap. I like it and it's really growing on me....... Plus I'm lucky my mom lives close by for extra storage . I forgot the engine shot, if you zoom in you can see the mouse poop on the intake.
Great looking truck. I'd get it running, check it over, and just drive it for an every day truck. Congrats on your great buy!
Have you calculated how many home made cookies you can transport to us at an event with it ? See now, I can't stop thinking about milk for some reason. I think we both need to stop. Congrats on the find.
It looks better in pictures, it's shiny but it's cracking in spots, has chips, scratches and a few dents....plus missing a few parts. Here's some more pics, a shot of the gate latch tailgate latches and mentioned 8 track.
The only missing part I really need to get before driving is the secondary hood latch......just in case. Letting the cylinders soak now, turning it by hand tonight, cleaning the carb, tomorrow I'll find out if it's a go or not.
