Using the Crites mounts, does the firewall and trans hump need to be cut?
    Thanks.

I have a 55, I dont have crites mounts, mine were made by gearhead in North Dakota. I dont believe you could fit a 385 series c6 bellhousing into place without modifying the trans hump. My firewall is stock however. I have a 460 (532 stoker) C6 in my 55.

well, right now I have the stock crossmember with a 460/FMX combo right now mocked up. got back as far as possible, but no room for fan.
damn, Fordfan your setup must be really tight. Are you using a conventional fan or electric?
will check with Gearhead and let yas know. have any pics Fordfan? thanks.

I've seen radiators moved in front of the core support, it may be a good option.

Keep at it. Been there not 'cause of a flood but we rebuilt our current house from stone walls up only.

I do have my radiator in the front of the core support. My car was an I6 from the factory so I believe the radiator was tucked up front to begin with. I also am only using an electric fan (Cooling components see info below). I had to notch the gravel shield slightly, as well as the U shaped channel iron that goes around the opening for the support.

When I bought the car it had a different radiator with a pusher only, it would heat up when caught in some slow traffic. Now I have zero heating issues. 180 even in 90 plus temps.

In the pics when mocking up I used some long bolts with double nuts to adjust the didstance back. once I got the position correct so the top radiator support (where the hood latches to) was close to radiator, I made spacers that were the same length and bolted it in, hood fits perfect.

    I have this radiator

    and this fan

I am not kidding, this fan will start to unroll paper towels on my toolbox a foot in front of my car! The people that work there are great and one of the guys has a 56 Ford I believe. When speaking to him at Back to the Fifties car show in Minnesota, he claimed fan would cool 750HP. Fan fits the above radiator perfect, no notching, set fan on radiator, drill 4 holes on the side angle of the radiator and use the 4 included screws to mount.

Water pump pulley is about 1/2 from fan. Its close but works great.

Just now seeing this thread. I have a 460 stroker/5 speed TKO in my '55. It's out for paint right now but I used their mounts. They had to be notched for header clearance but worked. I did not like that their price in their ad was each and not the pair and they did not indicate that. Very poor customer service at***ude there when I called about it! Basically the lady indicated that I could buy the other side or CMA!
I modified my core support to fit an aluminum stock type radiator moved forward and canted rearward at the top with the A/C condenser in front. I actually had no room for an electric puller fan so I cut the fan spacer and fitted a (I think 16") aluminum fan. Car runs 160 degrees easily. You can see the basic set up over there <=== It was running then but not finished. I di move a small part of the firewall stamping back just behind the drivers side head just to provide a little more space but it was not necessary.
