Im bustin *** trying to get this driveble in the next few weeks still undecided on what head and tail lamps to use, probly will have to be repops any suggestions ? I need some insight on getting gl*** frt/rear made and installed in her (I dont have any of the frames or trim for it) I know its not the quality of most cars I see on here but if you see anything really bad or wrong that I could still correct now Id appreciate it thanks in advance ...Mike
Your truck is very nice...Contact Bill Randle in Hesperia,California. He sells the baddest *** headlamps and tail lamps in the country. His e-mail address is savoycafe@msn.com .He's best friends with Jim Jacobs (Pete & Jakes). He also sells on e-bay under the seller's name savoycafe7ot0 . Tell him that Mike Farris from Michigan gave you his name. He's got some cool tail lamps on ebay right now. I purchased a NOS set of King Bee fog lamps and several other lights from him. He'll e-mail photos to you......Good luck....Mike
I don't have any great sources for lights, but you have nothing to be ashamed of with your truck, it looks really good! Kind of along the same lines as a 39' dodge my pops is building. Now go find some lights to strap on so you can drive it
Be sure to look at his lights on ebay. Check out ebay # 4628907178. Then you can click onto his other items for sale. They're unusual and cool..good luck.......
Russco, the truck looks like its well on its way to being a legit hot rod, from the pics, the quality of your work looks good. The gl*** should not be a big problem, its all flat and any good local gl*** shop should be able to help you ,with saftey gl***, if you make some patterns( use a good quality fiber board for patterns, the gl*** shop will like you for it and if you keep them, you will have them for future use , should the need arise.) As far as installing them, you should be able, to purchase new rubber seals, from several suppliers, and cut them to your needs, or you could use a windshield tape kit and install them that way.I would suggest the original type rubber seal as being the best route. Keep on it, when its finished, your gonna love it.
i know this is off topic, but what size tires are you running? how about actual height and width of them too? i am looking for tires for my truck and those look pretty nice. thanks ncg
SInce you don't have the windshield frame, how about merely gluing the windsheild in and using a generic molding to hide the seam. That's what's gonna happen to this one. The frame is rusted to hell and the front gl*** is trashed. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2262655
The tires are from speedway catalog they are Silvertowns the rears are 28" tall 8" tread width and 10 overall width they are on 8" wheels the fronts are 24 3/4" tall 4 3/4 tread width and 6 3/4" overall width on 6" wheel Thanks everybody for the words of encouragement I got alot of help and tips from here and had good help building it .Like I said its really not the quality of alot of cars on here but I went into this in Novermber with 3 main things in mind get it done by spring, as cheap and as simple,as I could do it. OH and it had to be a 4speed! I think she will be done or drivable anyway in a few weeks its definatley about as simple as I could have done it(quality suffered some) but the cheap part didnt come out so great
Nice! I love how the headers flow down into the relief of the cab, looks like they belong there! It's little details like that, that you either have or don't they can't really be taught, keep up the good work!
VERY COOL! Glad to see someone NOT afraid to rock radials on an open tire car. Are those S&S "fat fendered" fenderwell headers?
Id prefer the look of bias tires but I was a little worried about the performance and safety (heard too many bad stories about em to take the chance) I probly will get another set of wheels and tires later but im gonna try to drive it to Bowling Green and maybe a couple other long drives so I opted for the radials, the headers are Patriots for Fat fendered fords they too came from Speedway Catalog and again were pretty cheap they fit exactly how I had hoped they would but I gotta do something to quiet them down a little but there aint gonna be no mufflers mabe a turn out but thats it
In regards to the windshield---forget the rubber, get the gl*** shop to glue it in with black urethane.---Have the gl*** shop make the patterns too---it don't cost didly ****, and if you make the patterns and screw up, you still have to pay for the gl*** that don't fit (bitter experience speaking here). The truck looks killer---congratulations.
I'd just cut out some plexi-gl*** and RTV Black The set-up. It'd be cheap and it'd get you drivin real quick. It'll work for a short term fix untill you get a more permanent safety gl*** set-up. But this is advice comin from a hill rod who has no patients for windshields.
