A little over a year ago a friend came to me wanting a 33-4 Ford 3W. Not being in the position to purchase a 30K body/project I suggested he look for some thing that fit his wallet. We found what was left of an old stock car and with what I had we began constructing a car out of multiple pieces.
The build on this car is going to be a 8BA Flathead with original drive train, 40 wheels and we are NOT going to chop it. I will post more build pics as soon as I get them on this computer.
Wow great job on a puzzle coupe! I've been slowly accumulating coupe sheetmetal with the plans to eventually piece together another coupe. Do you have any pics of the body being pieced together during construction?
Absolutely great job, but I wonder if your friend won't have more in metal/body work than if had purchased something in better shape to start with?
Wow! He definitely started with a small billfold! The results are amazing! Nice save. Look forward to seeing it finished.
Fantastic! I've been collecting scraps for YEARS to do this with a 5W. Now all I need is the skill to put it together! Well done!
He's traveling the exact same path I did with my 34, changed to a 33 because 33s are prettier. I haven't counted up the number of states I sourced parts from yet but they go from Florida [4 door doors] to Oregon for quarters and decklid... I also started with an old stock car racer for a cheap buy-in but the only part usable from that purchase is the top! It looks like you've done a great job piecing that thing together
Thanks everyone, we are still in need of a few things. We could use some garnish moldings, the pan behind the grill, a rear window regulator and a seat.
Thanks for the compliments on our 3w build. I didn't think a 33-34 would ever be a reality for me, and when my friend gene showed me the "car" we started with , I have to admit I had my doubts. Originally I envisioned a chopped , fender less car , I figured less parts , less work , but was open to anything as I like any style 33-34. As the car started coming together it kinda took on a path of its own and when gene dug up some workable fenders , that sealed the deal. It would be an unchopped full fendered car. The plan is an original looking car that was mildly"hot rodded" in the 50's. Genes skill and passion for these cars is amazing and I can't thank him enough. I'll post some more pics as soon as I figure out how.
Wow great save on that body! Thanks for bringing another one back from the dead. Nice to see one with fenders as well, and with the unchopped roof it should be a real stand out.
