So true about the spare parts, Larry - it's what you don't have that breaks! Wish you could be here as well and Gabby says hey back! All the best, your LA Roadster Show brothers ....
Larry,I have my orange shirt that I will wear later this week. Haven't seen the chick in the black SUV but I have been keeping a eye open for her or her sister or mom. I don't care, either will do.
Couple shots from a rest area about 60 miles outside of Austin yesterday ... Today the festivities begin with a big BBQ kickoff party in the afternoon. My buddy Rick from Arizona is coming in his mostly stock Mod A banger - he was o e of the guys we picked up on the LA Roadster run - and a bunch of my buds from Colorado whom I met several years ago at Bonneville and at the NSRA Pueblo Nats so it will be a fun day. We did have a squirrely time on I35 yesterday. Running about 75 cars start darting all over the place in the speed lane. A lot of tire screeching, I hit the binders and downshifted real quick - fortunately I was able to slip to the middle lane to avoid things. No one was hurt and one car had a dented door but none of ours but it was dicey there for a few seconds. I will have to check my brakes today - and my shorts ...
Maybe he could stop at a homecenter and pick up one of those rubber doorstop wedge deals. (temporary fix) It shouldn't hurt the paint or trim but it may catch a bit more air and rain than usual.
What transmission are you running behind your flathead in your '32 cabriolet? Looks like a good time so far!
So here we are at the Auto Fair with Virginia guys in the swap space next to us. Talked to John for a few minutes and we both agreed you have TOO MUCH FUN! Lee
Made the kickoff BBQ - pain in the butt to get there but we made it. If we could have done something wrong in how to get there, we did it! I took some random shots and I'm sure the others will have better pics but here goes ... These four guys came in together and the made quite the entrance and, if you stayed long enough, one hellovan exit! This last one is a sleeper - looks like a Tremec 5-speed, good sized meats on all 4 corners - could not say what's under the hood to confirm ....
Nice pictures Tom. Looking forward to more. Looks like another good year and another good run. Take care, Mark.
Not too many pics today - spent most of the day at the swap meet but here are the few I took .... The River is killer ... I really liked the flattie in this Thread .... So what did we buy? Event shirts, I bought a 49 pickup column with a real nice top cup, Gabby bought an accident, real nice 39 Ford grille with most of the stainless, and my buddy Rick bought a T5 AA truck bellhousing for a banger motor. Have to say, prices were good .....
Today I am honoring Ron Hickman - a great guy and a hot rodder through and through. RIP my friend ....
can,t thank you enough for posting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sweet pix bro, that is as close as I will get to the event and am very appreciative of your sharing!!
So, we walked our tails off again, picked up a couple more SMALL treasures, and I took some pics of what I thought would be of interest .... View attachment 3501692 The mods made to this Edsel really made the car look sooo good .... This poor kid was out for the count - saw them an hour later and he was still out cold! There were at least 6 or more Zephyrs at the show ... This car is stunning and needs to be seen in person .... View attachment 3502001 Hey, Johnrodz - here is a nice example of the salt flats racer you are building ... there were more than a dozen examples of your racer there ... This car kind of sneaks up on you - I really like the clean, simple style ...
