Thanks... I put the car together [IMG]using a 49 Olds diecast then hand built the wheels, cage, and the other details..... I kind of built it to resemble my dad's old dirt tracker...Thats me with my dad in his car ,around 1964, his was a Chevy but same color and will be same number,17 , a few years ago I did a full scale ,real car, replica of his race car to recreate this photo but we just never got together for the photo shoot..... I was going to check and see if there was a way to photo shop him and I into the picture someday

First wife (EX!) had a real hardon for my hot rod friends that would come over and hang out in front of Grandma's stately home. (we made a real effort at bringing it 'down to earth' with our (mostly) fenderless T's thru '34s, kind of an 'Un-Club'.) Most of us also built models, were astounded when AMT came out with 1/25 scale! A '32 roadster, yet!
I still say the '39 Ford Tudor sedan was the first 1/25 model, some argue it was a '40 Coupe. Anybody old enough to jump in here???
We took many photos, some regular snapshots, our pal 'Snooky' developed them in his closet/darkroom.
Hundreds of pics were snapped between '55 and '62.
I had video of Jimmy ("Jungle Jim") Liebermann doing a wheelie on his Mustang motorbike (powered by 650 BSA & 4 speed!) in front on Lincoln St., and looping it, falling right on his head! And my 74 yr old Grandma, pulling him out of the street!)
Jerky Janet hated my popularity, and to show 'power', one day when I went to the drags she burned all my pictures, from 4 boxes...Even my baby pictures. Grrrrr.....

Well, I missed those pics, they were a treasure trove of history! Sometime I'll list some of what was included, but the whole pic story of the '32 Coupe Flyer painted, and the owner 'shipped out' to M.I.T. His Mom wanted it out of the garage, so my bud Teddy gave her $275 cash, and we carefully loaded it up, all apart, with its fresh maroon paint.
Teddy burned out on an all apart Deuce, (he was driving his black raked '33 Tudor) so he sold me the '32.
I sanded it down, every beautiful maroon panel! RED, I said...
3 months later, I had it together...red '32 Five window Hiboy, borrowed Culver City Quickie; 59L flathead (304") chrome everywhere, (worked part time at the chrome shop) 1957 on record! Must have had 70 pics of the car being sanded and repainted, 32 coats...Nitro...
So, jumpin' Janet had a fire. Got rid of her in '63, then...about '64, back to building models again!
I was determined to build a model of every (important) car I ever had...so, I started with the chopped '36 3 window, AMT 3-in-1. My first real car being a 3 window I chopped myself, at age 13. After some cut errors, ended up 5-1/4" front, 6" rear. (material removed!) Ditto with the AMT. Had to be 'authentic'...
Many more were to follow, wife Joey loves it...she says "At least this is ONE way to build my own Willys Coupe!"
I'm regretful we haven't found her a real Willys Coupe as yet...

I'm pretty sure the AMT 40 Coupe was released before the 40 Tudor. I've been building models since the early 60s and I'm pretty sure about that.

Yea, the 40 Coupe was out before the 40 Sedan. I remember talking my Mom into buying me the coupe in like Feb. 61. Saved my quarters and bought the Sedan later on in the year, painted it metalic green with a brush with the Olds mill , slicks and droped front axle. I was a cool dude even at 10 years old!
