Picked my 8 year old son Gerrit up at school yesterday. Had to wait till 10 to not lose a credit for a day of school... we're both really excited. It's his first time to Austin for the Roundup. I'll update this thread as the weekend goes by. Checkout this checklist he made a couple nights before we left. The trip went smooth without any issues. We dropped the '55 off at Austin Speed Shop, hung out a bit and then went to check into our hotel and grab some dinner. There were some *****in cars out on Congress last night. The Burwell's '39...or is it a '40? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Man it just don't get much better than that. I dig his checklist. You gotta frame that and hang it on the shop wall. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
He liked the purple '54 Matt's Roadster is so close... Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
After the BBQ we went and did something Gerrit wanted to do and played games at Dave and Busters for a little while haha. Then cruised over to get an early dinner at Top Notch Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Didn't take as many pictures the rest of the weekend. Too busy soaking it all in. I'd say Gerrit is pretty hooked now! He spent the entire trip home going over paint/interior/wheel combos he likes for "His" truck project someday haha. He really like 50's trucks and has a thing for '54 Chevys. It was fun to see how excited he got at the show. He also pointed out every old rusty car he could spot on the way home. I told him if he finds me a good car to flip, we can share the money.....that really set a fire under him already haha! He's already talking about saving all his money to find a good project..... HERE WE GO!!!!!!
This was Gerrit's pick for his favorite truck at the show. Good taste for an 8 year old! He spent the first day asking me what year every car at the show was. It was neat to see him start to recognize cars and trucks by year make and model. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
