Here's an el-cheapo way to get a cool sounding split manifold on your 194/230/250/292............

First cut a hold in the bottom of the manifold. A plasma cutter works good, then use a die grinder to trim:

Using a piece of stell pipe from the plumbing section of your locl hardware store, craete the second outlet pipe with integral splitter. Then make a flange from 3/8 plate, machine in the feature for the exhaust donut and weld in some studs:

This picture shows the function of the splitter to divide the flow. It's not an exact fit, but it makes sense to allow a little cross-flow to balance the back-pressure in the two halves of the manifold.

Finally, a little TIG welding. I must confess that I enlisted the help of master welder "Chops" for this, so I don't know the deatils of the rod he used. Anyway, here's the finished product. Total cost $30 and that includes having a local shop grind the mating flange face flat.

The pipe I used is 1 5/8" ID and 1 7/8" OD. This was just right. Any larger and the joint with the manifold wouldn't work out near as clean.

  5. That's a great idea. Have you run it on the car yet? Todd

The 'splitter' is what sets this apart..........very clever and well executed.

Good idea, one suggestion, you don't have to make your own flange. You can buy them at any muffler shop.

Here we go... 20170412_121207.jpg Flange from another manifold cut off. 20170413_165744.jpg Front half of manifold completely separated from rear. 20170413_165820.jpg And the heat riser still works for those cold Md. mornings
