Let's see your old car club stuff.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Kerry, Jan 17, 2004.

  1. Here are a couple of things from a car club my Dad was in in the late fifties called the Phaetons. He died when I was 8 1/2 so I have a lot of questions about this stuff, like why he pealed the Phaeton letters off of his club belt buckle. Bad picture, sorry.

I hate to wear the jacket around and would like to re-create it. Anybody know where I could get a jacket like that? There is a local place that is really good the embroidery so that's not a problem.

What sort of old car club stuff do you all have laying around?

Chances are he didn't peel the letters off of the buckle. They probably came off or were coming off and he helped them the rest of the way. Cool stuff though, I don't have anything from my dad. Actually all I really wanted was his accordian, he was quite the polka player and that's saying a lot in PA...

Speaking of car club stuff (sorry that I don't have anything to actually contribute to this thread, never been in a car club), does anyone one know where to get the jackets that don't look like baseball jackets, but more like a dock worker's jacket (or donkey jacket for anyone who knows what I'm talking about)?

Thanks for the advice....but I was actually thinking more along the lines of the boiled wool/felt jackets...not really a work jacket so much.....I think that the pharaohs in american graffiti may have had the jackets that I'm talking about (maybe not though, it's been a million years since I've seen that movie). Thanks again for the help.

George you could still fit in that jacket when I won the lifter toss at the Del Rods airport rod run. 1983

My first hot rod club started in the late 50's. I got this a few years ago not knowing they ever existed. The club lasted into the 70's until the garage burned down.

  10. A bunch of us had a car club in high school (late 50's). Some of us even had cars.... [IMG]

  13. Try a place that sells to school athletic teams. A company called DeLong makes a car coat that our club uses that folks ask if it's old. We use a real old stacked chenile style patch. Name Your Game, in Long Beac CA is real helpful.
