For the Model A Ford ch***is and panhard bars:

    1) If one was only going to have only one bar, is a front or rear bar most beneficial?

    2) Other than ease of attachment:

Does it matter if the bar is anchored to ch***is at the steering box side or the other side?

Does it matter if a front bar and a rear bar are anchored to the same side of the ch***is, or should they be anchored on opposite sides?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. depends....what front steering? what rear suspension?

That is not a question with a simple answer.
Get a Pete & Jake's catalog & read the front section.

how hard can it be? a panhard bar locates your axles under your ch***is, BUT exactly what suspension do you have front rear?

There's a bunch of good threads on here about this subject. I took a lot of time and studied them all to get it right. My A has cross steer and definitely needed a front bar. That car would almost change lanes when hitting a bump in a left hand turn. Much better now.

Stock front/rear springs with reversed eyes and leaves removed. Steering is stock. Warmed up 4 cyl engine.

Then you need no panhard bars, front, or rear. If it needed them, Ford would have put them on there.

You might want a front anti sway bar.

What makes you think you need a Panhard bar? With your stock set-up it would just be a waste of time. Wouldn't hurt anything, but you have to ask why?

    Yes.

    No.

Does it matter if a front bar and a rear bar are anchored to the same side of the ch***is, or should they be anchored on opposite sides?
    Most defiantly, the same side.

    Questions not asked -
Make them as long as possible.

    Notes -
With a 4cyl engine, stock length shackles, as other's have said not worth the time/effort.
Also, as has been mentioned, anti-sway bars will help cornering a lot.

IF the suspension is stock in dimensions to original Ford and springs are mounted under tension, i.e. shackles must be installed from spring to perch with a spring spreader, no Panhard bar is necessary.
Fords from 28-41 were built this way then Ford changed to intentioned mounting and installed Panhard bars front and rear from 42-48.
