As long as I don't build up too much clutter I will horse trade, sell at the swap meets or just give to someone's needy project. But sometimes you just have to let go and make a trip to the dump.

I agree with Indyjps - pay it forward - I'm cleaning up my garage - starting on my '38 chevy truck build and getting rid of left over parts - p***ing them on to others that need them to help put their ride further on down the road - I'll recycle the rest of what doesn't get p***ed on - in my garage space is a premium !

Put some stuff out at the curb for free, no one would take it. Put 25 bucks on the sign and somebody stole it and the sign too. Go figure.

Here's what I do sometimes, put it all in One lot with some good parts in it and sell on eBay. I've done that several times with good results.

Just my personal opinion but broken parts are basically worthless unless it's super rare, anything else is junk.

If you have enough junk you might take it to the s**** yard and make a buck or two or take it to the local recycler and toss the parts. HRP

We, as car people always seem to ac***ulate extra parts, over time the cream of the crop gets used, or sold/traded off..what's left is not the cream of anybody's crop.
Deal with it as you will, with a clear conscience (s****, yard art, whatever).
Unless you are a Hoarder space becomes more valuable, than a bunch of, essentially worthless parts.

Got a glovebox door for a 40 Chevy Master Deluxe Coupe? I'm about to make a flat one, but a "real one" might look better on my rude rod.

back in the golden age of ebay pre 2008 if you found a cat turd in your old car someone would buy it. I sell bits and pieces now and then, old toys, antiques and ***orted junk, but when I look at the 1949 Chevrolet parts now it is more paper items and aftermarket tail light lenses than actual hard parts taken from cars. 1950 has more die cast 1950 cars than parts. I don't know what happened.
parted out a junk 1953 more door, a rusty 51 Fleetline more door, and a 1960 El Camino. every useable part sold and I stripped them down to the bone.... like the Indians and the buffalo, nothing went to waste. the only difference is I did not make soup with the bones. the only good things I s****ped were a front crossmember for the 53, and the frame for the 51, but in my defense, I sold the trans crossmember from the frame and would have tried harder but had nowhere to keep it.

ebay ****s now, I just sold an old Chevy truck banner for $250.00, tracking shows delivered on the 12th, and I have received feedback but these ***holes still have not released my money from payscam. I bet a lot of sellers got sick of this **** and go to swaps now

I used to seek these in bulk to a local engine builder, he'd build them into 2.02 heads for a stock car claimer cl***, rules changes, years p***ed, the heads are half a state away. Seriously, if anyone needs a set let me know.

I usually make the sale. Many times i get my ask but if someone offers less they will get the part just so I can get it the heck gone! Persistence pays! Used car parts at new car prices is my motto!

A free table is the way to go. I would toss the s****s only if they aren't worth saving. I give a lot of things away that just sit around not being used and I sell a lot of stuff.

Get a couple of bucks in your pocket if you have to take it to a s****per.

I had some good mechanical parts that I could not give away and posted on here about trying to give them to our fellow old car guys in Cuba and caught all kinds of hell for thinking about that so I s****ped them.

    Cracked, broken and needing repair?
Not particularily desirable? Time to let it go free or s****. Time and space is money, can't save it all.

Just hauled 3 loads (5x10 3500 lb trailer)of unloved and unwanted car parts to the s****per.
Need the room as another guy just gave me 5 trailer loads of what he thought was unloved and unwanted parts.
I'm hoping I can find enough to justify hauling the free stuff 8 miles.

I'm hoping there is a pony under all that manure.
Most times on these deals there is just more manure.

I've kept some stuff for 35 years thinking I will need it "some day". Well, some day isn't coming. About 4 months ago I started placing ads on Craigslist and dealing with the idiots. I've sold a LOT of stuff. A couple more things leave and I'm spending the money on a gl*** '32 5 window and rolling ch***is set up the way I want it (around $18,000, I've sold a lot of parts!). Some of it turns to gold over the years, some of it...not so much. I've done a lot of free stuff at swap meets and people act like you are trying to pull something over on them. I even did a "I will give you $20 to take this box of parts home with you" once. Took 2 days for a taker. We had a lot of fun with that one. Place some ads, see what shows up, if no interest you can pitch it.

  28. Like others have stated, turn it into art. A friend of mine had a Halibrand quick change, and with the addition of a pad and a gl*** top, he turned it into a rec room table.
I have a large collection of stuff that is too valuable to toss, and I haven't got around to selling. Like others have stated, the amount of parts I have is getting in the way of my ability to work. I am building a 2 story 2000 sq ft garage, and am going to do a serious triage when it is time to move to the new building. To give you an example of how crazy it is, I even have a chainsaw collection.

I did a bunch of cleaning a couple years ago. If it's something I won't use in the foreseeable future it's gone. Some things were odd and end stuff that with a couple different friends they were able to use the stuff for different things on their cars.

I used to hoard parts and at one time had some really good stuff ( 2 _ 3 deuce Pontiac set ups, a real 4.11 68 camaro posi rear end, etc) but got tired of falling over the stuff ever time I walked into my garage. Got rid of 80% of it. Of course some parts I wish I had again but that's life.

A good friend put it the best way I've ever heard, he collects amx cars & parts, he said "my god, I've become what I always hated when I was young, the old man that wouldn't sell anything because one day I'm going to use it!"

  30. Yeah, tell me about it.
