SaturdayOnce again we (me, Slick50 and Vicki) got up early and headed to breakfast at the Hula Hut but they weren’t starting to serve for another hour so we backtracked to the Magnolia Café which we remembered was recommended by Buzzard in a post on the HAMB before we left. Thanks for the recommendation bud!

We then headed to the park and once inside were flagged down by Jerry and WasASedan who had saved us a very cool spot under a huge tree, kinda right inside the gates on the right, next to the Thurderbolts. It was a perfect spot with lots of car buds all around and plenty of shade. Rad**** and Sammy were parked very close as well. Would come in handy for the HAMB Meet and Greet a couple of hours later.

Once we said our good mornings to everyone Jerry and I headed over to the vendors to see who was around. On the way I stopped to drool over Mercury Charlie’s Merc and took a few more photos in the daylight.

I must say all the vendors had the neatest stuff and it was tough to decide what special treats to buy. Everything fit the theme of the show. Saw lots of old buds including Marcy (thanks sweetie for the sweatshirt. I’ve worn it every day since I’ve gotten home!) and the Cochrans (thanks for the old water slide decals Ryan. Can’t wait to stick one on Big Olds) and the Tardels. (It was a pleasure to meet you two)

While we were chatting with B***’s girlfriend at his booth and asking where he was, conversation came to a complete stop all around us as everyone heard the rumble getting louder. She then stated to us, “Here he comes” and sure enough B*** rolled into the park and captured everyones attention as he rumbled by. He sounded awesome! It was great seeing you B***. Congrats on the completion. Looking forward to seeing your car run at the HAMB Drags this summer.

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to meet in person for the first time McPhail and Weesner in the vendor area. I’ve been a fan of all of theirs for years and was excited to finally meet them in person. The nite before Jerry had introduced me to VonFranco, another artist that I was thrilled to meet in person. So on Saturday when we ran into him again I just had to get another hug and photo. It was wonderful to meet you and your lovely wife. I really enjoyed chatting and look forward to seeing you guys again in the near future.

Also ran into Tikiranch, his lovely wife and their friend Cindy who were all sharing a booth. Roadstar had purchased a shift knob and some other bits from him awhile ago and it was a nice surprise to be able to meet the artist in person.

From the vendor area we headed back over to Slick50’s pink ‘57 Caddy for the noon Meet and Greet. Lots of HAMB folks showed up to meet each other, do alittle bench racing and munch on a few cookies. It was nice to meet Travis and his buddy Guider from CA, Negative Matt AKA KustomsCarAudio, In Da Shop (Wyatt) and his lovely wife, 54Bomb, TomH and his lovely bride (thanks guys for the license plate. It was sure good to see you two again) and Jai. I’m sure I’m missing a few and I’m going to feel awful when it’s brought to my attention. So many people came and went over about an hours time, it’s tough to remember everyone. Slick50, Vicki, BobK, Kustom52 and posse, the Dirtys, Kisam, Unclee, Robert, MilesM, ElPolacko, Flt-Blk, ALWAYS great to see you guys.

Once the cookies were gone:eek: of course JimA and R&C Kevin Lee stopped over. It was nice to see you guys again. Looking forward to reading your coverage of the RoundUp in the mag.

ElJefe’s (Great ride bud! You know how I feel about ******* cruzn. Also, thanks for the dash plaque. Means alot to me to have one even though Big Olds wasn't there and registered.)

Yeah, I got a thing for copper and gold too. This is Merc's 32.

Correction, not Killer's ride but one he helped build. Ok, so now fill me in on who the owner is that I met.

It was also great to meet SpeedAddict and check out his car as well. I loved the dash.

Hey, this guy had a top on his roadster.

HankCash and his posse. ALWAYS wonderful to see you sweetie……you still not talking to me? :p Xoxoxo
    [IMG]

I had to wait a long time for this shot. So many people around the LL all weekend long.

If I’ve mislabled or missed labling a HAMBers car, please correct me and I can edit the post.

Stopped and said hello to the “Fender Skirts” and was introduced to Buzzard for the first time. (it was nice meeting you and your wife sweetie. Thanks for all the hard work you and the rest of the Kontinentals did to make sure the rest of us had an AWESOME time. At this point I was introduced to LuxBlue who is building the H-Bomb for BigA. Nice to meet you. I can’t wait to see it at the HAMB Drags! Also ran into MarkX and we chatted about StinkyFingers chop for abit. Always nice to see you Mark.

Once things started calming down at the park we decided to head back to the hotel to shower, change and head to dinner before we joined the mayhem on Congress. Buzzard had recommended an Italian resturant called Romeos on Hambone’s resturant thread so we decided to check it out and boy am I glad we did. Everything was so delicious. THANKS guys!

From dinner we headed to Congress, parked the Caddy and started walking and chatting with folks. Wasn’t long before I ran into a Speed Week salt flat bud BigRic and copped a hug. Shortly after I ran into BubbaLuv and again lots of hugs all around! Nice seeing both of you guys again and hope you both make it to the HAMB Drags.

It was nice to see Plowgirl again as we were hanging out by the LL Someone then came up and said Rocky and his brother just rolled into town and were by the Continental Club so a group of us went over there to say hello. So glad you guys made it down safely. Next year you should come on Thursday! We were joined by Mike Zenor (always great to see you bud, you’re a riot to hang out with) and Jai who was looking lovely in a dress and heels and Tikiranch. I really enjoyed chatting and getting to know everyone alittle better. Ran into Hank Cash, Jen and their pals and actually went back to their room across the street at the SanJose to check it out.

About 1AM headed back to the hotel and met up with Flat Top Bob, Clark and Sue and proceeded to hang on Bob’s truck and chat for another hour. It was cool to hear about the small little town of Wellington that Bob lives in and about Clark and Sue’s plans for the future. Man was I wiped out by the end of the nite. LONG day.

    Sunday
In the morning folks met by the Continental Club for a cruz to a lakeside cafe called Ski Shores.

Lucky for me my good pal Aussie Steve didn’t have a rider in his freshly completed ’32 so I was able to cruz with him. What a pleasure. It’s a great car and Steve should be very proud of the build. (thanks for the ride and the license plate sweetie!)

Once at the lake folks grab and bite to eat, listen to the 2 piece entertainment, and generally hung out and bench raced a bit.

AussieSteve’s way of saying “I miss you Rudy”:D
    [IMG]

We then headed over enm*** to Flyrite Choppers for their Pig Roast Luau. Aussie Steve’s pal Stacy was driving solo so I hopped in his ’37 Chevy for the ride over. (Thanks for the ride bud. It was nice meeting you and chatting about your son’s Chevy. Love to see photos of it when the chop and top is complete).

Everything was in full swing already,
    [IMG]

They had a GREAT band, (sorry I can’t remember the name) which I, and everyone else, really enjoyed.

Ran into BobBleed, Evel and JohnnyCola. Glad to see you guys there.

TikiRanch’s pal Cindy was stripping there in the hot, hot sun. What a trooper!

Spent time checking out more cars

and by late afternoon is was time to head to the airport. Many, many thanks to Slick50 and Vicki for carting my **** around all weekend and for all the others that gave me rides as well. It was very much appreciated.

I’d also like to thank all the businesses, clubs and people that hosted all the parties and open houses. You guys all went above and beyond to make sure us out of towners felt welcomed and had everything we needed for an AWESOME weekend!

A special thanks, from the bottom of my heart, to the Kontinentals for hosting and throwing one of the best hot rod weekend ever! Your hard work and dedication to this event is overwhelming. You guys should all be very proud of this event. Thanks so much! I’m so looking forward to doing it again next year. Hopefully Roadstar’s Martha Stewart tendencies will p*** and he’ll feel like joining us for a car party instead of staying home and redocorting.

For large and full resolution photos you can visit my Photobucket Lonestar RoundUp 06 album and feel free to copy and of the photos you’d like for your own personal use. The photos are in backwards order. In other words the beginning of the weekend is on page 7 and they work their way back to Sunday being on page 1.

Steve, you haven't heard the rest of the story. After painting his whole living room TWICE while I was gone, and not liking either of the colors, he proceeeded to paint it a THIRD time, finally admitting the original color that I picked out was the best choice. He also was so bored without me he decided to hang this gr*** cloth wallpaper on an accent wall in the living room. Right now he's home rearranging his new living room furniture that was just delievered. Yep, I see needlepoint, knitting and s****booking in his future. I guess I should ban him from watching all those HGTV shows.:D

It was good to see ya in the warmth of Texas....My bride thinks you're pretty cool...I guess maybe it's because both of you like to ride "*******"!

Thanks for draggin' Jerry with ya 'Saturday 'cuz we probably would have missed him otherwise...he was my "contact" person at the show in Phoenix back in February.

See ya during the summer...maybe the HAMB drags...
