Robert Williams will be attending an exhibit of some of his new work, SLANG Aesthetics! next weekend at the Ft Wayne MOA. Schedule and ticket information below... http://www.fwmoa.org/Exhibition/robert-williams-slang-aesthetics Seems like a good excuse to dust off your Rods and Customs and make a road trip to N.E. Indiana.
I wish I could go, but I am in the hospital getting a bone marrow transplant and will not get out until after it is over.
Bump for the new week... Ooooof... I'll bet you do wish you were anywhere else! Good luck. And here's hoping that your procedure in no way resembles one of Mr Williams paintings.
I'm to far away to go, so hopefully some kind hearted Hamber will get some pics to share on this thread. I'm a big fan of Roberts work.
Finally got some pics edited and ready to post. This was a much bigger exhibit than I was expecting. Dozens of Mr. Williams paintings, pencil sketches, memorabilia and some beautifully bizarre large sculptures. I'm going to have to go back again to take the time to really absorb it all. Got to meet up with HAMBer Fedcospeed Friday evening and had a great time "chewin' the fat" with him. I don't spend much time at the art museum and didn't know a single soul in the joint. It was much better having another HAMBer to hang with for a few hours. Check out Fedcospeed's thread too for some of his photos and observations of the show. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...rt-show-fort-wayne-wow.1058950/#post-12016843 Not really any of the Car Culture stuff on display but no matter which way you turned everything made your eyes feel good and your brain spin. Here's a few samples...
ZAP Comix artist R. Crumb. The level of detail and realism on this oversized head was mind-boggling. It was everything you could do to NOT touch it. Fedcospeed, being distracted by the photographer...
Mr. Williams couldn't have been more accommodating. He seemed to be having as much fun being there as his fans did. Chatting with him was like talking to your uncle. He gladly posed for this shot after signing a book for this staff member of the Ft Wayne MoA. Jim (Fedcospeed) and myself taking advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity. It took a bit of coaxing to get this young lady to step into the picture but it made for a great size comparison. And one last shot of the strange world of Robert Williams. If you're like me, and I know I am, you might want to see more of this exhibit with your own eyes. So plan a trip to Ft. Wayne for a day or two and live it up!
