Now that's a true fan, hauling in to Ft Wayne from NY! At this point I'm planning to attend the Party/Opening Reception Friday night, 7 to 9 pm. I was a little stunned to see that his work was going to be displayed here, much less having Mr. Williams make an appearance. So far it looks like there may be at least 2 HAMBers in attendance.
Outstanding! Look for the white haired guy with Fedcospeed on his back. One of my car buddies sent me some pictures of weird cars this morning so I thought to ones self, I wonder if this Williams dude is doing any shows.Zowee! Think fast and make up yer mind NOW. This had to jump ahead of projects this weekend without a doubt for me.I hope there will be event posters to buy and have signed.All my stuff here would be too difficult to get out and bring.
Got to hang with him here in Seattle a few years back when promoting the movie "Mr. *****in". Super nice guy.
Back home and rested,well except my brain.Its still swimming!!Ive meet a few big name car guys over the years but this time it had a stand alone effect.First the Man, Robert Williams.One of the nicest,low key,accommodating,humble,funny, and highly intelligent of this statue Ive ever met.He was genuinely thankful for the Museum to have him and all the people that came to see the artwork and him. When someone told him I had traveled 6 1/2 hrs to be there he said to me "You came all that way to see this ****?" Never a sense of an agenda or pushing a point of view during his lecture.He seem to just have fallen into a..insert your own words here....that he ran with and this is where he is today. Very well versed in art history and he said he can speak with the intellectual and academics and hold his own.He has a vast library of art history books and both him and his wife have studied them for years .Very respectful of others work. Now the Work: Insert mind blowing,twisted,confusing,pointed,simple etc etc all mixed into one.Almost non describable cause I still cant wrap my brain around what i saw.Each painting or drawing had a central idea and shows a million different points of view that could or even dont relate to the main focus.Sometimes you thought there was a focus but then are totally caught off guard and fooled by whats going on there.Its is the coolest "****" Ive ever seen, and my own thought process with art has been bent over a stump and had its *** kicked. Sum it up here with You really have to be there to see what i mean kind of thing,but even that doesnt do it justice!!! If one gets a chance to see this exhibit DO IT
My wife is all worried Iam gonna go all weird like and such with my artwork What I will take away from this is I need to pay attention to the little details and touches and put more effort in it.Make people have to look longer and harder to figure out what I did. In my own style.Cars,artwork,projects Also scribble more stuff down and keep it. I have forgotten more idiers than I care to mention.Lost thoughts.Also I learned to just do things such as jump in the truck and go somewhere.Take something in or go to that garage sale or racetrack or grab the wife and drag here out to eat somewhere.Learning something is all that bad either. I also did my part for earth day too. Burned a tank and a half of fuel and after getting home, had a 4 hr bonfire with my family.
Robert has been an influence on my life for decades, his art teaches a viewpoint to look at the world from. Thanks for the photos and impressions, I'd love to get a look at that exhibition some time during the rest of my life...

Love his stuff! For those of you who want more or are just getting into his work, check out his books, I can recommend them all but some may appeal more than others. Best bet is to find a bookstore that has open copies for you to thumb through. If you want to delve even deeper, there are a couple do***entaries on him and his work. Then you can check out Juxtapoz magazine.
