Bad ass I have a 30 coupe but the 28-29 sedans have a different appeal to them. Low and evil looking. Should be a good build please keep us posted.:D

Just wanted to point out how much better the car looks with a bitchin paint job as opposed to the, "patina" or whatever it is, rusted look. I've seen some really fine rods with great workmanship and design but, they don't put on a good paint job and it really destroys the potential of the car. Know what I mean Vern?:)

  6. I'f you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for it? I'm hoping to find an 'A' sometime this summer and was wondering what they go for- real word prices.
    Thanks

    Nice!

That 3rd pic you posted, the blue 32 vicky, thats my car! It's flattering to see someone actually like my car. hahaha.

My dad and I actually just aquired a 30/31 model A sedan we are gonna build. I think i like the 28/29 model better. I liket the cowl and grill better.

Got any ideas of a motor your gonna use?

If I found a complete Model A, I'd build something like Dave Stuckey's pre-"Li'l Coffin". With fenders, this sedan looks so damn cool.

Then again, I'm building a fenderless '32 truck, so don't listen to me. ;)

I'm going to play the disagree-er here. the thing with a "patina" is it's all original, usually. I had this argument over on another car forum i post on and this is the best thing i could come up with.........

A patina is like a finely aged wine, there's nothing like it, all class. a new paint job smacks of Earl Scheib or screwtop Thunderbird. once you paint over that original patina it's gone forever, zip, fin-ido. gone. anyone can spray a car and make it look decent but if the car has an original patina there is no body/paint man that can duplicate that. you know what i mean Vern?:p

I thought those cars rolled out of the factory rust-free with a nice coat of shiny nitrocellulose paint. No? ;)

No I don't know. I live on the Gulf of Mexico and we fight rust on a daily basis. If your working with steel, fabricating something and you come back in two days, it's rusting. If you lived here there is no way you could leave a car bare metal. No way. It won't last but two or three years and you have major damage. The car I'm building is going to last for 15 years or more until it will need a paint job. The other thing that I have noticed is how the chicks react to the "patina" car. If you can have two identical hotrods sitting next to each other, one patina, one with nice paint job. The chick is going to look at the patina car and EVERYTIME says.."that's a piece of shit" and would never ride in it. On the otherhand, if it has a shining paint job and is clean...no problem babe...lets go! I don't want to have to explain what the car has in it to justify the rusting exterior. No matter what you say, rare engine and tranny, suspension,etc...they aren't getting in it. You can do what ever you want, I couldn't care less. It's yours.;)
