Chet and I went up to Stafford this morning. The snow had stopped and it was a nice, sunny morning. Not many super deals. There were many shipping container's worth of cheap Chinese tools. Met a couple HAMBers. These guys beat us by seconds to a NOS swamp cooler. This car was from Texas, so it was rust free. Not a fastback, but nice and solid. I think this shoebox was born with 4 doors. Saw this in the parking lot. Camping and bread delivery in style. I bought a couple old Hot Rod mags to give me ideas for another flyer, but this was the score of the day. $5. Ray in CT
A couple of my buddies went and froze their ***es off. They didn't buy nothin either. I like the airsteam and shiny tow rig, very cool
It sure was cold last night! I was there selling, and just kept getting lowballed on everything. Ended up letting stuff go cheaper than it should, but I need the room!!
Wouldn't be Stafford if it wasn't cold! Usually it's cold AND muddy. Thank god for trash barrells so that fires can be started to keep warm. This is the first year in a while I haven't been. I never find anything, but it's usually a good time regardless.
I also was there did not buy nothing, except for a ugly looking troll doll that looked exactly like one of the dudes I went up with. Thank God he did not drive or I would have had to walk home. Wish I had a picture of them you would see the resemblance. The weather was great sunny and warm. I also met a few Hambers there Murdercycle, Leon and Orange Crush. Great bunch of guys. There will be a swap meet up at Lake Compound, Bristol Ct 5-7-06 I will be there. If you go make your present known. see you there.
I was there too. Same old story. Cold, a little muddy, and didn't find much. I still go every year hoping hoping I'll strike gold on something.
I was there....riding around on a Blue 3-wheeled Schwinn with the granny basket on the back. - I didn't go around the track for fear of a rollover I didn't buy anything...for some reason I never do there (maybe a few stainless nuts and bolts from the stainless guy) but that's it. @ least the weather was good. Lots of interesting cars there - -The Chevy pictured above (anybody get a price on it) -The Shoebox pictured above -There was a A coupe up headed out towards the car corral for a cool $19,500 with a SBF. - A TALL T for $12000 - '58 Anglia 100e (Prostreet with a full 2x3 Ch***is and rollcage) complete with a Dual Fed Tunnel Rammed 454 for $19,500 - Cute little car - not Hamb Worthy - but would be fun as hell to drive I bet. I didn't see that pickup above Some jerk got ****ed and threw up in one of the Piss-Houses - I hate people who make a mess for everyone else. -Andy
Did you see the half-crushed '64 Tempest coupe? Looked like a tank rolled up over the p***enger side. That ****er was running when I walked by, amazing. That black primered shoebox was NICE. .
We're all so programmed to think of the Shoebox coupe, that Tudors do tend to look like Fordors with the back doors welded up. That "waste" knob would make a great shift knob.
Thanks for the reports, guess I made the right move and stayed home. I'll be at the CSRA Swap in Bristol on May 7 for sure.
I went up with a buddy of mine. Too bad we weren't looking for lawnmower, chainsaw or 4-wheeler stuff! We left empty-handed, too.
Oh come on it wasn't cold. But yea it was muddy, and not many good deals. The T coupe in the car corral was my favorite. a little pricy though. Are there any swaps in this area with more older/vintage stuff? I heard that there is a good show/swap in Durham in July or August Todd
Unfortunately, that's what it's turned into....not to mention lots and lots of used tires. If I want some used tires, there's a big pile behind the dealership where I work that I can dig through.
