Thanks F-ONE, just looking for somthing thats a step up from stock, that will just replace originals.
Sealed beam halogens are what I like, but if you want to spend the money Cibi makes a nice halogen conversion that has a convex lens instead of a flat lens. I usually just run halogen sealed beams.
Go with the convex Cibies; yeah, they're expensive but you won't regret it. It's a simple remove and replace to install. Get them here.... http://www.danielsternlighting.com/products/products.html
The Cibies will be better than halogen sealed beams by about the same amount that halogens are better than regular sealed beams.....
The normal replacement H6024 you find at walmart for under ten bucks works fine for me...maybe I'm not as old as you? $80 a pop is a bit much...but I guess if you are into that sort of thing, go for it.
I use Halogens in my 56. Brighter but not real white or blue. If your still using a generator you don't want to go nutz here . I'm with Jim unless you are off road, on the desolate hyways of Montana, or the outback of Australia stock or Halogen are fine.
Jim, I drive some pretty black roads; few or no street lights in places, trees overhanging so you don't always even get the moonlight, not to mention stormy overcast nights when it's really pitch-black outside. They're markedly better in the rain (a NW specialty, particularly this year!), but in any case still have more/better light over a 'standard' halogen. I've been running Cibies in the cars/motorcycles that I can since the early 70s (well before they were legal) and won't settle for less if I can help it.... Precision optics and optical-quality gl*** does make a difference.
