Is there any hop-up parts for these engines anywhere. I won't say speed parts.. WE know why of course.. But anything cosmetic at all Any info. will help??
Did you get my PM? http://store.summitracing.com/partd...908110+4294908097+4294920304+115&autoview=sku And even if you keep the stock head, some chrome acorn nuts on the bolts would dress it up a bit.

Also, depends on what you wanna do. There are a couple of folks one who frequents this board under the AKA of olddaddy, who makes dual intake manifolds and split exhausts. there is another fellow in Pa who does the same as well as remanning the carbs for dual set up. Also has some sweet throttle linkage stuff. (send me a PM, and I'll send you his particulars) These engines respond nicely to freeing up the exhaust, raising the compression, you can go dual carbs or with an adapter put on a 2bbl. Mopar had a 2bbl option in 56. This option raised the HP from 125 to 132 with no other changes. Also you can take a combination of .090 off the head and or block and still pump gas (.070) will run on regular. Langdon's makes an HEI distributor conversion, but ya gotta go to 12 V. I have dual carbs on a fenton intake, (still available on epay and once in a while at swap meets) .010 of the block, .030 off the head, stock cam, single exhaust with low restriction muffler and 2 1/4 id pipe. This on a 56 230 cube motor. It is putting out about 150 horse, runs very reliably, gets 19MPG with the 4.11 rear end. The Dodge motor should respond the same. No it is not a speed burner but it will keep up with traffic easily, and throttle response from 40 to 65 is pretty impressive.
Here is some stuff from another HAMBer. Maybe he will chime in. http://homepage.mac.com/rmccombs/StumblinIdles/PhotoAlbum49.html
Here's another thread for you guys. Check the motor with the stock head and acorn nuts: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=101758
I have been kicking around the idea of making custom tube intake and exhaust packages for these and other inliners from chev and ford...depends on my workload, but I could start producing them as early as this year...the plans are a completely matched dual intake and split exhaust to try and maximize the powerband a little better...I'll try and keep everyone updated if I do choose to go ahead with it...
