Customs I bought a '65 Bonneville today. Check out the bonus the seller threw in...

  1. You could jack it up and count the driveshaft revolutions (search the forum)..or , it's probably due for a rear end lube change. Pull the cover and drain, spray it out with some brake kleen, then look for a pair of numbers on the ring gear
for instance, 16 (pinion), 41 (ring) divide the two (2.56).

That's a nice add, recommend you put it in Hemmings and on e-bay for bigger exposure in case you haven't already. I like the Bonnie more too! ;)

Thanks. Hemmings ads are up to $100 now so I decided to p*** on them. I have it on OldRide.com for national exposure as well as Craigslist and in the monthly newsletters of both Edsel clubs so we'll see what happens....

Nice car, seems to be very well cared for over the years. The parking brake should be fairly straightforward, especially once you have the manual to help show the routing of the cable. I tend to agree with the rest, leave the 2 barrel carb and put some nice std type mufflers on, then drive and enjoy it.

I hadn't heard anything about it. Is there a website with some info? The Pontiac is in a local body shop getting a scratch touched up but it would probably be a good place to bring the Edsel since it's for sale. I just got home from a cruise sponsored by one of the local Mustang clubs in the old K-Mart parking lot in Hikes Point. Let me know. Thanks....

Thanks. I'm definitely keeping the two barrel on there because it has plenty of pickup as it is. I was hoping the shop manual would arrive today but it didn't so hopefully it will be here on Monday. I'm going to start looking for a muffler shop in the next week or two because my wife hates gl*** packs....

Also, I put both carb and manifold setups on Craigslist yesterday as well as the fender skirts since they won't fit on the car due to some minor rust repair done to the wheel wells. That was disappointing since I really like the look with the skirts.... :(

Lebowski, the car show tomorrow is at Kosair Center across from Bob Hook Chevrolet on Bardstown Rd. Its usually a pretty good sized show. I hope to make it.

My wife says we're going to her sister's house tomorrow afternoon to see her other sister and her husband who are visiting from Alaska so I'll have to p***. I'll probably be at the cruise in downtown LaGrange on May 27th starting at 6 so check it out if you can....

  12. Man that is a beautiful car. I've always been partial to '65 Poncho's since Dad bought a near new Gold Grand Prix with 8 lugs in '65. Spent many miles in the back seat of that one, and have had several like it since. Here is my little brother and I in front of Dad's house about 1980.

  13. Nice! That looks like an unusual color combo, the body and top and then the vinyl and the carpet??? ...can't see the dash. It looks "pleasant" though, not ugly .....and in great condition. :)

My vote is to keep the 2-barrel. To go with anything bigger I'm thinking you would have to consider the factory 4-barrel cam and higher compression pistons at a minimum. You could go with dual exhaust if it doesn't have it yet and add smiles with no worries.

  14. Again, you guys ought to read the whole thread before commenting.
Already said he's keeping the 2 bbl.
Already discussed and showed the dual exhaust.
What else ? Oh, Pontiacs 99% flat pistons. The compression is changed by the chamber volume.
    Carry on..

  15. Easy up there, my friend. I know what was posted and I wouldn't change a word on my comment. I was merely expanding on the plan to keep the car as is and why it's a good choice. And also that the duals would be good because there is no down side. Now let's go have a beer and discuss how we will fix Washington politics.

  17. LOL Thanks,.I came in from the shop to answer this? Not today..Sorry..No beer, no politics..Don't want to get banned from this forum too..And no domed pistons either!

  18. One thing Pontiac always excelled at was its dashboards and the rest of the interiors.

  19. I've found that most folks can't treat a Pontiac like a Chevy and be happy. The Pontiac don't like it, the guy who "fixed" it won't like the unhappy Pontiac. Lose lose all day long
