I am keeping the 6 volt system on the HenryJ but want to have 12 volts for the cell(using the existing cigarette lighter) and radio. Could I ground both through the body?

If the hot sides of the two systems are kept separate, I think it should be OK. Jack E/NJ

Do a web search.... There is a company that makes a 12/6 volt battery and a 6 v generator keeps it charged.

  5. I think I would go for simplicity and just use 12 volts on everything.

I believe the cell phone will charge on the 6 volt system thru the cig lighter.

Thanks all. That is a neat unit EBB. Vim if I was redoing the car I probably would go the 12V route, I did that on my other 51 HenryJ.

  8. Most electronic gizmos nowadays run on 5V , and the 12 volt charging leads usually have a 5 volt regulator inside them (you can tell which ones do, as the cigarette lighter plug feels warm when it is charging). If you have one of these, the internal regulator will still put out 5volts if your input is 6 volts.

I have a 6 to 12 volt inverter in my Model A. Works great for a radio.
