Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by borderboy1971, May 2, 2017.

  1. Ok, HAMB contestants, who's ready to play "name this object"?
Without further Adu, contestants......name this car? Or at least what it was.

  2. Looks like late teens Dodge Brothers frame.

  3. It's a 26 or 27......

    Nope, I got nothing.

  4. The frame and wheelbase is huge. I'd say the vertical part of frame has got to be 6 to 7" tall. For reference, those are 4x4 mounted on the frame. Massive differential.

It looks a lot like a 26 Buick, but I'm not convinced that's what it is.

  9. Nope, look at the curve at the bottom front of the rear fender, not 24 Chrysler or 26 Buick, at least those pics posted.........that curvature on the rear fender was a much earlier design feature, carried thru from pre WW1, me thinks its late teens or maybe early 20's, but no idea what tho'.......lol........also just noticed the cantilivered transverse rear spring, now that should help with the I.D.................lol......still no idea.....andyd

  10. And I might be imagining this but is there something in front of the rear axle?.........maybe a gearbox?........does it have an early transaxle arrangement there?...........lol..........I must find me something constructive to do some days....... still no idea what it is but worth saving tho'.......andyd

Found a '26 Cadillac that has the curved rear fender where it meets the runningboard. Buick, Pontiac and Oakland had the beads on the splash apron. I too was looking at the rear spring and I know I've seen that arrangement before, but can't remember on what brand of car. 8713104014_83eec9ce82_b.jpg P1090412-226-Pontiac-1926-2D-Sedan.jpg

No Buick had that rear spring set up, there are 3 , that should narrow it ...

  14. IMG_0500.JPG IMG_0501.JPG Pics of my '19 Dodge Bros frame. Zoom in and you can see the 3 spring setup behind the gas tank.

Cadillac from around 1922-25, that rear spring setup is the main clue, called a platform design. Bob

seriously....where do you guys find this stuff, I can't even find a decent late 70s parts car, and it seems about every other week there's a post about some obscure early iron laying around in some guys back yard.

  17. Just for the record I have no idea what it is. I'll try to get some more pics of it when I can. For any added info I can say that it has a long trailing arm attached to the pinion area of diff to prevent twist. Does that help?

  23. With that torque arm, I'd say the axle housing floats in the spring mount with some cushioning.
Might have had a rag type rear DS joint, with that pinion flange......maybe ?

  24. Borderboy......the first of the 6 pics you posted shows a rear bumper bar with an inverted triangle which was a Hudson mark........just did a quick search but couldn't find a pic of a Hudson with that curved rear fender/running board area...........lol.......the plot thickens........lol...............andyd

Does it have any hubcaps on it?

  26. No hub caps and no markings on the triangle piece on rear bumper.
Also as you can see in one picture, it almost looks like a master cylinder mounted on the frame? For hydraulic brakes?

  27. That tri- sprung rear.. looks like a 'yacht line' Hudson, but not sure they had that rear springing..

The triangle on the bumper may the logo from an aftermarket bumper maker.
