Just saw a big truck exploding and burning on the news, Dayton, said wrong way driver hit truck and was killed.
I'm so sorry to see this , someone's dream is not so much fun at time . As I say sheetmetal and parts can be replaced , maybe not the same but replaced . Lives and Loved ones can not . That is a dangerous spot to be in , I pray all is well for everyone . On a lighter note , that is the most realistic flame job as I have ever seen ! Sorry , just a humor moment in a sad time . Hello, Condolences for the occupants/owners. That fire is raging. I hope they all got out safely and stayed out of danger. It looks like a gas fire as the flames are too intense. The black smoke comes from burning wires, and all things not metal, rubber trim, hoses, upholstery, leaking oil, gas, etc. That is a bad place to stop, but in an emergency…just get out. It reminded me of our burning 40 Willys at Lions Dragstrip in August of 1960. The clutch blew just before the traps, it cut the gas line, parts flew into the Moon Tank, causing an explosion, and the metal parts went all over. The racers on the return road told me that my brother had jumped going about 60. The Willys veered across the lanes and hit the fence on the spectator’s side. By the time we got to the burning Willys smashed into the fence, (within a few minutes from the start line,) the flames looked like this one with black smoke pouring out of the whole side window and door. Our extinguishers did little to put out the raging fire coming out of the open doors of our Willys, as disheartening as it sounds. Jnaki It took over 8 big red bottles to put the fire out in our Willys while burning and stuck in the fence at Lions. It was a total wreck… Something will stay in my mind was what my brother said… “Our extinguisher in the car was worthless. The flames were too hot.” I can imagine trying to steer, slow down, spray the extinguisher, and then finally, jumping out after the traps going around 60 mph, when all else fails…
fibergl*** car? looks like some of it is missing, like melted away. Maybe thats what all the black smoke is, looks like an interior fire, doesnt look to be in the engine area.
Man that ****s big time. You know this can happen to any of us. So many unexpected things can start a fire .Just hope it isn't your turn. A fire extinguisher in your rod is a smart thing to have ready.
I do a lot of welding floor back into cars and trucks. Fire is always a concern, and something I watch for constantly. In addition to knowing what lies under the pieces I'm welding, I've learned to watch where the sparks from my grinder or welder are going. When I weld inside of a car, I have a spray water bottle with me. Any hint of smell of something burning or abnormal, or any new light glow is an instant stop and spray with water. If that doesn't put the fire out almost instantly, I go for the big extinguisher hanging on the wall. In 25 years of doing this stuff, I've emptied 4 of those big fire extinguishers, and I watch for fires to start. The reality is, when a fire starts inside a car, you have 30 seconds to one minute to put it out before it gets out of control! The fire will self feed, plastic, insulation, undercoating, seam sealer, paint, plastic filler, interior material, seat foam, wiring, and a whole list of stuff, in addition to the known flammable stuff that exists inside an automobile, will melt or burn and will intensify a fire, and it all happens pretty quickly. That small fire extinguisher you may have inside your car should be used as a primary escape provider before its used for anything else. Once everyone is out of the ride, and safe, maybe you can get the fire out, but I wouldn't count on it. In my life, I've seen 5 or 6 cars burn to the ground. In every case, no one was injured, but the car was a total loss. They will burn them selves out in about 15 minutes, after everything burnable has burned up. Gene
