First off - Torquefest 2017 was a blow out of a show!!!!! Wish I had pics to share... Lost my older Pentax Digital SLR. I don't care a lot about the camera, but I'd sure like to have the memory card back! So if you know anything, let me know and I can work out how to get it back. While the last band was playing, I think I set it down on a guys rear tire - Copper color P/U-roadster/bucket - kinda fuzzy memory as to what it was. Point is, fairly certain I set it down to open my beer, started BS'ing and wandered off. Car and camera were gone when I realized I was an idiot. IF that's not the case, and somebody five fingered it, I'd still really like the card back. There's a few family pics I can't replace now. So keep the camera, but at least drop the card in a envelope and mail it to DF at 634 E Lombard St. Davenport IA 52803 (not my addy, but it will get to me) No questions asked.
Sam, Best of luck, you have my sympathy. I always worry that I will be the next one to lose my camera. I have a couple of suggestions that are too late to help you but they might help others. Every time a format a camera card the first picture I take is like the one below: Another thing I do is frequently back up my camera to my desk top computer. Did you try asking he show promoters if they have a "lost and found"? Charlie Stephens
Thanks for the card format tip. The laptop I've been using for backing up suddenly had a RAM failure a couple days ago and I'm not sure I'll get it resurrected yet. (I use it the burn DVD's a hard backups after I dump enough onto the laptop) Sometimes shit happens... every F'ing day! Yeah, I'm gonna check back with the fairgrounds Monday.
I'm sure who ever has it would know it's the one I lost. I'm really just hoping they happen to get on the HAMB and see this.
Sorry to hear this Sam_Fear. I hope the person who found it contacts you. You can try and get in touch with John Wells to see if anyone turned it in. He goes by Cool Stuff here on the HAMB. Typically I get in touch with him via Instagram where he goes my Vintage Torque. He will get back to you a lot quicker via Instagram, usually he responds to me within an hour.
Any chance the promoters could identify the "copper color P/U-roadster/bucket"? I hope he would have taken it off of the rear tire before he left. Charlie Stephens
I would swear it wasn't Johns - I thought it was a truck style not a turtle deck - but I was fairly thrashed. Hell, I think I still have his phone # - might just call him. One positive, I got my laptop going, so I salvaged the family pics I thought might be lost. So now I only lost the car show pics. ....And an old 10 megapixel camera. I can live with that. I might as well out myself on the HAMB - this is mine: If I talked to you at the show, I'm glad I did. If I didn't, I wish I woulda! Great show, great people!!!
Love your car Sam. I'll put a post on my facebook about your camera & I'll tag John Wells in it. Good luck
Glad to read the situation is getting a little better for you. Hopefully your camera will be returned. Not sure if we spoke or not but I did see your car and I took this picture.....and yes...with my camera
GOOD NEWS!!!! A box got delivered to the above address with my camera and card in it! It had a full return addy on it so I did a little web searching - it was a little brownish bobber pick up that I left my camera sitting on one of it's cheater slicks. I swore it was topless? No note or anything in the box and they spent $8 to send it. I have no idea how they found out about me, but I sure appreciate it. Sometimes people are just too cool. Thanks to anyone that got the message out. Probably need to post a few show pics now...
Just proves there are good people that will do the right thing and don't do it for the accolades or rewards! HRP
