We had thos logo painted on the front window of the shop. We even built a t bucket like the picture to show in car shows and such for a few years. Ron Shaprio is still in Johnson county and he still sells a Ronnies Speed Shop T shirt! I was his store manager for years but left in the late 70's to become a factory rep for Moroso, MSD and othe performance lines and I am still doing that.

This brings back memories.I used to buy parts from there. I think I have sales receipts from there somewhere. How do we get in touch with Ron to get one of those T shirts ?

I found a "Ron Shapiro" on LinkedIn and sent a connection request. Guy's the right age. He works at a Toyota Dealer in Merriam Ks. I'm gonna try to swing by there and see if this is our guy and chat for a while. Gimme a couple weeks since it's graduation season. I'll post back. My old man had several cars sponsored by Ronnies, the 63 being one of them. Don Young drove em most of the time. Don moved to Arkansas and flew an airplane for the forest service. He died a few years back. My old man, Bill "Red" Snedeger died in 91. I have a few pics, a couple trophies and a July 1965 copy of TACH with their names in it as record holders in their class at Great Bend, Ks.

social57chevy any update on is the Ron Shapiro you found the original owner of Ronnie's Speed & Custom shop in KC? I grew up in KC and spent many a Sunday at KCIR and bought parts from both Arrow and Ronnie's. I would love to get reprints of their T shirts, if available. It would be great if someone would write a book about the history of drag racing in the midwest as well.
