In alot of air bag installs you use a length of all thread to hold the front bag mount into the spring cup like a shock would mount.

I was thinking of using a piece of pipe with treaded ends instead. One end would go into the bag and the other thru the hat. That way you wouldnt have to run an airline out of the cup. And the bag would only have to hold the weight of the suspension when the car is lifted, other than that all the weight is still on the cup.

    Thoughts / comments?

  2. I know thats how its done on semi trailers, cause you can never get to the top fitting to get them back off. I usually blow them off with a torch after all the air is out, and the line is off.

Thats cool, I was hoping there wasnt something obvious that I was missing. It seems like a safer way to run airlines too, that way they dont have to pass thru any metal.

The valves wont be on the bags. I am just going to have that pipe come up into the engine compartment, then I will have an elbow cennector with teh air line going in. The valves will probably be on the firewall.

  6. i don't see anything wrong with it, just make sure your fitting on the bag is nice and tight before assembling and you shouldn't have a problem.

Good idea moving the airline out of the cup, so it's easy to disconnect.

If you have to remove the bag and cup for any reason, will the elbow connector go through the hole formerly used for the shock? Maybe a straight reducer would go through easier.

I am using 1/2 inch line, so I would probably have to remove the elbow connector, but really thats minor when you condsider the work to remove the bag.
