Heck yes I remember it! There was a 1956 Chevrolet, 210, 2 dr sedan, painted red, white, and blue; Love American Style was the name, and 1320 Express Company was lettered on it. There was also the 1320 Express Company MARKED 1/4 mile dragstrip on Hwy 526, aka the Boeing freeway. Painted lines right across the road for the start and finish. I'd heard the Everett police really h***eled anyone with the 1320 Express Company decal on their car. I looked at the Love American Style 56 when it was for sale in Snohomish, no engine or transmission. The entire interior of it was done in trunk spatter paint. There's a fella that runs around Everett with a black early 60's Corvette, has the number "1" on the quarter windows, I think he was a member. That was back in the day when this 17 year old bought his first new car, and paid cash for it. A 1970 Dodge Dart ******* 340, Vitamin C Orange, blacked out twin scooped hood, beefed up Torqueflite, and 3.91 Sure Grip rear. ****** headers, Holley 650 DP carb, 16" Cherry Bombs, Cragar S/S rims, air shocks on the rear, the front end lifted with a couple extra turns on the torsion bars, Sun Super Tach bolted to the drivers side visor (there was no other place for it), and an 8 track tape player. Should have kept that car too, but Uncle Sam sent me an invitation to come play war with him. I'd really rather played with the 1320 Express Company. That what you're looking for? Butch/56sedandelivery.

OOPS! A few hours later, and I just realized something; the Boeing freeway dragstrip was "Pacific Speed Raceway", they even had that wrote at the start line. Getting kind of hard to keep track of all the information my mind has been attempting to store over all these years. In fact, I think the Love American Style 56 was Pacific Speed also. But, I DO remember the 1320 Express Company. Butch/56sedandelivery.

Actually Bill Richard's car wasn't a Camaro, it was a Firebird. Bill first showed the car before taking it to the track to turn low 11's. He also had a younger brother who had a black 70 GTO. Then there was Steve Clagget's (SP?) 67 454 with tunnel ram, Scott Nord's 69 427 Camaro which started with a big carb, then went tunnel ram, Hal Stonier's 340 Demon with tunnel ram that eventually was swapped for a 426 Hemi and Fairbanks manual auto & Dana, Les Jacober's 56 Chev black sedan delivery which had the rear moved forward like an early funny car, also with tunnel ram, Jim who had a perfect 67 442 plus a Olds Vista Cruiser painted black and deep red, Elaine who drove a 69 Road Runner who could pull the gears beautifully, another blue with white stripes 69 Z-28, a 66 Ford Cyclone with a dual carb, and a wide variety of other cars in various shapes and engines. Oh, I drove a 68 black Super Bee with a 440 - 6 Pack Hood. All good, lots of fun, parties, and oh yes, the proverbial run on the Boeing Freeway in front of the 747 tavern.....

I still have that car.....any more 1320 Express members, or cars? Gosh, I would love to have some 1320 Express decals-that would be pure sweetness!

Those were the days (1320 Express Company). 1320 goal was to get a drag strip in the Everett area after they started closing the runway gate at night at Paine Field. Boeing freeway was deserted then, wouldn't see a car hardly at mid-night. Then again, when Pacific Speed was on Pacific Ave (before Broadway location) we raced up it, even with the police station up the street. Paul Edwards lived above that location and he had a girl friend (sort of) that had a 375 hp 396 and mine at that time was the lower cam and compression 325 hp. We were pretty much head to head on that one, but he told me latter he slipped a little additive in the tank for more power....humm.., isn't that just on the edge of cheating Paul. Paul & I became good friends. In fact he gave me a trophy (pretty large) in 1972 that he labeled "Fastest Car In Town". Yes, I would tow a ski boat to Eastern Wa with it at the same time (but no, didn't race with it attached, lol).

I also remember the Les Jacober, "Black Rat", Sedan Delivery; saw it once all torn down at the families Propane Business on what is now Everett Mall Way. I also remember the racing on Airport Road at the Casino Road intersection. From the traffic light to the 35 MPH sign was 1/4 mile. Snohomish County Sheriffs Office put an end to that when they went in stealth one night. They even caught the Flag Man. I was building my Pro Bracket 56, Model 150, Business Coupe at the time, and really wanted a drag strip in Everett. I always thought the perfect place was the site of the famous tire fire down by the Snohomish River. It would have been a perfect site for an 1/8 mile strip, but has just resently has been sold to a developer who plans a yuppee type condo developement with offices and stores on the ground floor. Now, if I had 6.2 million dollars, I'd buy the First Air Field in Monroe, and convert that to a drag strip/private airport. A Snohomish County Valley farmer should wise up, quit the crops and cows, and build a first rate facility. JMO. The 747 Tavern is on Hwy 99/Evergreen Way. Maybe you're thinking of the Boeing Mechanics Union Hall with the "banner family" out front? Butch/56sedandelivery.

You have the stockish, faded, 69 Camaro I've seen around Everett multiple times and places?

Interesting, i am nephew of Ken Liden formerly Liden Engines of Everett. He was a member of the 1320 car club.
Ken had a 1938 Willys Pickup with a 426 Hemi, called Iron Toy. He raced at S.I.R and Bremerton Raceway.
Does anybody know where the truck ended up?
I am trying to find it. Ken sold it in the 1980's. I was originally told to a guy in Spokane. I just heard tonight from my aunt that it was sold to someone North of Everett. Arlington, Anacortes, Mount Vernon.....?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Unfortunately Ken p***ed away 3 months ago.... i never asked about the truck although i always wanted to.

    Thank you!

While I won't have any idea of where the Willys could be now, I knew Ken. He tuned my Dodge one day just prior to a weekend run to Bremerton Raceway. It was actually the last time I raced it as I tore up the drive shaft while making a full throttle run feet away from the finish line. Ken also sponsored and had a big hand in building my friends Dodge Demon. Together they pulled the tunnel rammed 340 and replaced it with a Hemi and manual shift automatic. The Demon was painted white and used a period correct snorkel scoop, Super Stock springs, etc. Sorry to hear of the p***ing of Ken. Good memories of the Willys.

This is a cool thread. I grew up in the Seattle area, but was too young to know the 1320 club. Got my license in 1981.

But I do remember cruising the "Renton Loop" and drag racing back in the Renton industrial area just off the loop. I had a 418ci FE powered '66 Fairlane. My budy had the same cube motor (Merc 410 w/ .040 overbore) in a '68 Mustang coupe with an Galaxie tripower on it. The cops arrested him one night when I wasn't with him. He said his solace was he had 2 fenders on the big block '67 Chevelle he was racing when they both split making a run for it. The cops had it all figured out and they both got caught. Good times.

My dad talked about drag racing along Alki beach back in the day too.

Here is the Love American Style 56. It was owned by Jay Larson of Snohomish when this picture was taken. He apparently got it from Leonard Smith. I don't have any other details because this picture was developed four months before I was born.

Hey LGS - You have a good memory ... alot better than mine, since I can't place your initials with a name, but I think I remember your car. If you've a mind to, let me know who you are, as I'm impressed with your memory of my car and also my brothers, and alot of the others.

WOW!!! This is exactly where/when I looked at it when it was for sale. The interior was fully Zolo-toned (trunk splatter type paint). I want to say it had an American flag for a headliner just held in place by the exposed bows. Around the same time, there was another 56, 210, 2 door sedan for sale in Everett at 41st and Rucker, at the 76 Union Station. No engine or trans, straight axle, and painted orange; it had a painting of a sickly looking eagle on the door with the claws clasped on the door side trim. The name of the casr was ILL-EAGLE. You don't have a pic of that one too by any chance?

Yes....I am still around (As of October 14, 2020.) I live up here by Lake Goodwin, Washington. I have been a car junkie my whole life! Still have "Screamin' Urine" my '69 Mustang...but have so much more now....learned so much more. Life is good! Sure wish I could get a picture of Bill Richards car....remember it being white, with brown fur interior with mirrors. Wish I could be a vintage"1320 Express" window decal. That would be sweet!

Just read your post and request to have pictures of Bill's car. Attached are the best three I have. Two were taken at the shop when the car was done or close to it. The action shot was taken at Bremerton Raceway. Believe that is brother Mike standing in front of the car - arm raised. Enjoy.
