Would like to hear from those who are using a Glide bench seat in a '40 - '47 Ford pickup. I talked to my upholstery guy about my intention to use one in my '40 and he wasn't very enthusiastic about it. Couldn't really pin him down on why. The reason I liked the idea was that the seat bottom lifts up and forward which would be perfect for access to my battery and other electrics under there. I thought I'd get the foam kit to go with the seat and have it covered in Rave material- a leather substitute. What's your opinion, any problems that would be a show- stopper? I know some guys think the Glide seat is junk, but what exactly is the deal? Thanks !

Used a bench seat out of a 91 s10. Had to narrow the bottom about 3 inches. The back fit perfectly under the window. Nice ride height. Made the bottom to lift up and hold with very short hood prop. Was cheaper upholstered than glide was raw.

use glide seats in my 40's but add spr4ings as they are soft at the edges and have foam cut special in two different compaction rates (wedge cut)--they work great---gettin g ready to put one in a 40 pickup too

Glide seats are worth the investment. Fit good and hold up well. Lots of adjustability and options.

9 years later, any updates? Can anyone post pics of a glide seat in a 40-47 pickup? Would be greatly appreciated.

    Much thanks!

Don't have any pics, but I put a Glide seat in my '40 pick-up. I loved it.

Anyone use Bengel's seats? Www.hotrodseats.com. I contacted them and they would make a frame to fit but i haven't pulled the trigger.

To be honest with you, I think the foam sucks that they use. One was a 55 Ford pickup and the other was a 32 Ford coupe. I do interiors for a living and replaced the foam with foam found in a junkyard. Usually out of a 80`s Chevy pickup.
