Here are the pics like you were asking for. They say don't chop a Shoebox Coupe but this one here, the Litton Ford and yours show how bitchin' the outcome can be.This cool Coupe roams the streets of So-Cal but unfortunately I don't know much more about it."Simple" lines, cool stance, nice chop, that's all it needs.Less is more.

I hope this is what you are looking for.By the way,if somebody knows the owner of the yellow Hudson he probably also knows the owner of the Shoebox Ford.

Pic 2 and 6 clearly show how important stance is.It's off in pic 2 and suddenly the whole car doesn't flow anymore.

Hey guy's Edgar here...The shoebox you guys are raving about belongs to a customer of ours. The Ford was chopped by Bill Hines a few years back. It actually has Hirohata style side windows. I'll try to post some pics of it. with them on. The body line are quite simple and cleverly disguess the loads of work underneath it. The whole point of the car was to appear to be as period correct as possible on the outside but reliable and comfortable on the inside. Aside the awsome chop job the car is completly shaved. The car appears to be a 49-50 at first glance but it is actually a 51. We set up the car with a narrowed Jaguar front suspension with air bags dropped in a healthy 302 Ford backed up by an AOD transmission with the original three speed rear end. We still need to finish up the inner fender wells. We've managed to keep the firewall clean shaved with out making it look modern-street rodderish. The interior houses stock seats that have been restuffed and formed to have a fuller dinner booth feel. The stock radio was left in place and now houses the air suspension controlls. We over took the task of reconfiguiring the trunk sheet metal after it was hacked up by a previouse shop while setting up the crude air bag system.(pictures to be posted) The latest worked we've performed was shaving and smoothing the bumpers and setting up the rear Mercury overider. The car is now in a solid beige base as it will be attending shows in this color for the next year or so...at least it's not flat black!

Using the old radio for the air bag controls, that is rad! And that shoebox looks wicked sitting in the weeds, definitely top notch work!

there is a modifed floating around that uses the radio bottons to operate the tranny. it is really cool when stuff like that gets done, it shows some real creativity and thought.

    the 'box looks great too.

Shit,so this means the whole post can be dumped ? Yeah...right,just change the title to Flat Brown etc.The one you are talking about is VERY nice as well and is even more traditional.Seems to be a '51.Only thing I don't like is the position of the license plate. It's really a very tasteful Shoebox Custom with lots of class and timeless looks.Nothing but cool.I converted one pic to grayscale and as you can see it also could be Hollywood 1953.Unfortunately no more pics available...

Thanks alot. If we had it to do all over again it would be with the same 1/4/ windows of the John Cassabaun "Torpedo from Toledo" built by the Clarkaiser shop from Detriot but not the roof line. Than you could maybe make a case for it.Rikster ,Where are you? Its almost impossible to compete with the slick look of a Buster Litton style hardtop especially if the window frames are beautiful like his was with nice vent window set ups.

Just looking through some custom Shoebox pics, and this is the car I have actually been looking for, to get some information about.

I saw that starlite staff said it was one of their customer cars. Any idea how much the top was chopped ?

I have a '49 coupe, and a '50 coupe. The '49 will be a very mild custom, for the wife to drive my little girl around in. The '50, on the other hand ;), will be "daddy's ride". I wanted to get some info on that particular car (formerly flat brown, now beige), and get the chop looking as close to that one as possible. You know what they say !..."imitation is the sincerest form of flattery !". :)

Anyway, any info/help you guys could give me would be GREAT, and GREATLY appreciated ! Thanks !

    -Aaron
