Tru Spoke (Hub has bump around diameter)
    Tru Wire (Hub is flat)
Tru Ray (has cap and straight lace)
Tru Classic (Has cap and crossed lace)

    Star Wire

    Appliance Fine Wire

    Or these new McLeans! http://www.mcleanwheels.com/30spoke.html

I plan on only using these types on my 2 builds (73 Caprice and 52 GMC)

Tru Spoke is king in my book, but thats just my opinion.

Love the traditional painted wire wheels...not a big fan of chrome wire wheels...but they do work on the right car.

Does anyone know what wires were used on the McCulloch supercharged '53 Corvettes?

An old thread that is always worth another look. My favorite roadster on Skylark wires is the Fat Jack Robinson/Chuck Hoffman '28.

    Contrary to JimA's post, Skylark wires were 15 x 6.5" in 1953 and 15 x 6" in 1954. All repops are 15 x 6"....

My used Tru Spokes had a sign on them saying that they were Skylarks too but it's hard to tell the difference in a flea market field with no spinners. Of course this was 30 some years ago. Skylarks were not uni-lug.:D

The wheels on my 34 coupe / my avitar are McLEAN wires with stainless spokes. I built the car in the 70s.

Tru-spokes for my Merc. Had a hard time finding a decent set of Chrysler wires at the time, so went this way with it and some Hurst wide whites.

The best part of my 17" spokers is the history..
My old man painted them in the 80's, I'm running them on my deuce out of respect.. Heres a shot of my son touching them up after we mounted new rubber with tire bars..
    And because they look good..

Had to have the Chrysler wires on my T&C , I think the wires and wide whites make the car. BTW True Spoke now has the rights to produce the 50s GM, Ford,Studebaker and Chrysler wheels. They are exact copies and look great. [IMG][IMG]

That color combination looks great. Those wheels really pop against red body. Nice

    I purchased two 16 x 8 K- H wheels
    from H. A. M. B.'er , Tommy a few
years ago. They are on the rear of my
26 Ford modified now. It took years
to find a set of widened 16" K-H
    wheels, thanks again Tommy.
