Sorry for 1st post to be a bit of a bummer but always having a hard time finding reliable honest sources for any parts.

    Case in point

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/111953670939?ul_noapp=true

    but on their website

    http://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_t...d_Category_Door+and+Body+Weatherstrip+Kits+

part numbers for both items are the same at double the price from the same seller.
and shipping is always way over priced. And every time I almost decide to bite the bullet and give them a shot, I find stuff like this.

Just like to share info with good people. As im sure all you guys have been around and aware of these types of businesses.

they are different part numbers, and have different contents, so yeah, they should be priced different.

Well the part numbers are different, and it does have different contents, but those different contents sure don't look like $100 worth to me.

If you put the different part numbers into the search on Macs site, different items pop up. Definitely not the same product.

I think one price is for one door. The other price is for one cab. Two doors.

If you read the desc. on Mac's site it is for 2 doors.

I would personally not buy anything from Mac's I had a bad experience ordering a Model T starter from them. Many threads here and on ford barn about bad experiences from them. I might use them as a very last resort.

  11. Since they got bought out they have instituted a very irritating email marketing program that is 8 to 10 emails a week. I asked to be removed from the list but so far they are still coming. Their shipping has gotten crazy under Ecklers. Enough is enough, I'm done with them.

Thanks for the clarification. That makes complete sense. And I did over look the 18000 and 18001

Thanks guys - I over looked the 18000 and 18001. I still have yet to find a suitable, "deluxe" kit for a reasonable price. Almost bought the $219 "deluxe" from MAC until shipping was $40 so I back away pretty quick.

Thanks for keeping the info straight. One of the reasons I like this forum more so than most.

Agreed that reading is fundamental. Im big on excepting responsibility - Completely my fault for over looking the 1 different number. My fault.

I have been ordering from Mac's for years. I always hear how bad they are. I have never once had a problem with them. I find they have more of the parts I want, and the other suppliers don't carry. I checked on line, to get two spindle nuts for a '28 -'58 ford? The main suppler that everyone say's is the cheapest, wanted $16.00 to ship the two nuts only. WTF is with that, my complete Mac's order was only $8.99 to ship, and I got every thing in two weeks, because they had to get the second nut in stock.

I gotten everything I have ever ordered, I got it in a week or less. I got a bad screw in the hinge screw set (no threads), and they set me a new complete set without question. My last order was in November of 2016. I have another order almost ready to send off to them soon.

My last order from Mac's was

I have a quality issue with Mac's. Drake is only marginally better but also only on certain items. I also wait for promotions from these types that go to those "subscribed" for their advertising campaigns. At the end of it all there's things where you do have to just***** it up and do the nasty. It's like that scene from "Full Metal Jacket". 'What do we get for $10?" The dirty******* says "Everyting you want"
"Everything?" "Ever-y-ting..." Sadly it's sure to include some severe crotch rot along with it. No dissin intended to other dirty*******s...;)

Ordered parts from Macs that could have fit in an envelope. Received the parts in 6x8x10 box.

bangngears, that how I see it.. I shop all of the suppliers and find the shipping is sometimes the stopper especially over boxed. Macs was good once but to me Ecklers screwed it up. I still check their catalog for availability but mostly buy elsewhere.

Ran into a similar deal a couple of years ago. I was looking for scoff plates for a 41 Chevy. Metro showed them, metal backed, moulded rubber... Held on with screws instead of built in clips like the factory but looked good. I did some searching for their part number to see is a vendor had them at a lower price and one showed up on eBay.... Cool!

NOT!... Some guy was using Metro's part number and was selling precut strips of ribbed rubber without the metal backing at the same price as Metro.

I had considered using something like that at first but after soaking the originals in carb cleaner to remove the old rubber... Wouldn't work because there were ribs in the original metal backing. Bummer.

Do be very careful of people using part numbers as a .n item number and selling something that isn't what it should be?

Envelopes get torn or damaged, parts get lost or damaged.
Small boxes are safer and get lost less.
Small box shipping is far smarter and safer.

Yeah thanks looks like im going to the source. Carpenters ships for $14 - MACs ships for $40 on their deluxe kit. Never was concerned about the $200 price tag for the right (proper) kit or part. But can't see more than $20 for shipping.

I've ordered a few things from them, but only because I had no other option. The prices usually fall in line with other offerings from other dealers, but time and time again I have gone to check out to see an over charge on the shipping. The product hasn't been the problem so far that I've received from them, its always the shipping. Almost double what I end up finding else where.

    Shipping $14

I don't need extra bubble wrap. I need the part and if damaged then I'll deal with the carrier.

  25. Just to clarify, "precision" is the supply source for MANY weather strip parts.
Some are proprietary, manufactured for specific specialty suppliers & some are not.
an extra bolt or clip will change the part number of a kit.
I got bit in the**** for a bunch of money because of Internet stock pictures on weather stripping kits.

Understandable. The price of parts are what they are and not the biggest concern. The shipping is what always turns me away from MACs.

're shipping. There is a HUGE infrastructure out there, consisting of buildings, trucks, airplanes, computer systems and people.....none of which come cheap.....but through which your package is whisked from door to door, maybe up to 3000 miles, in a matter of a few days. All the while you are free to go about your business doing other things. It's being taken care of. What do you suppose the alternatives are?

I think the big problem with shipping costs is that the purchaser does not 'see' the value added.....the part is just the same as if he picked it up down the street.

But, he didn't.......getting that part from Timbuktu costs time and money. It is just an integral component of the part's cost.

Here's what you have to think about with shipping. Would you get in a car and drive something across country on a hamb relay for $10?

the envelope was only a reference to the small order. A much smaller box could have been used
