Hello all. Haven't posted here in a long time.
I'm thinking of changing up my headlights to change the car's look a bit. I currently have Kingbees on SoCal headlight perches. I'm wondering if the '34 commercials will fit on those perches and be able to be aimed correctly? I've asked around to see if anyone had one I could try, but came up short.
I could buy a set, but if they don't workout, then I've got the h***le of returning them.
I thought I'd check here first. I figure someone must have tried them???

    Thanks, Sid

  2. i believe the mounting stud is bigger on the `34 commercials , you will need to drill out your existing so-cal mounts

i believe so-cal sells the mounts with a bigger hole

I had to drill them out and machine down the front so they would aim correctly.

When using the commercial lights on a car stand I do know the light won't aim correctly without some clearancing work on the stand or the bucket. But, if you are buying repro then maybe they have fixed this. And maybe the repro have a smaller stud. And maybe the repro would have clearance on the highboy style stand anyway.

Got any buddies with one you can borrow?

I have '34 commercials on a repop '32 car bar. They did not aim properly so I had to shim the mounting some. They did, however, bolt right on. (see avatar)

I wouldn't care what it took to make them work. There are no better looking headlights than 34 commercial in my books.

I agree. I do like the looks. In my case, I'm looking to use stainless buckets, not painted. I don't know of anyone around me that has one to try. That's been my issue. My have to take the risk and buy some.

Sid you must be looking at aftermarket lights with a stainless bucket. I have originals one and can tell you the stud size is .625 or 5/8 and bucket is not have much room to aim and a lot less then p***enger cars.

Stud size does not worry me at all. I have a full machine shop, so any needed modification, or even making my own studs (most likely because they will need to be stainless also) is not an issue. Bob Drake has them listed for $350.00 I don't know what their return policy might be if they don't work out. Might give them a call today to see. I should plug into my local scene a little more and find someone that has one?????

What bandit says. My stock 32 p***enger lights are spotting the satellites. The mounts need some rework.

Keep in mind that the wires go thru the mounting bolt and doesn't have a bung on the headlight itself. It's handy to have a machine shop as I also do , so just mill the slot forward a bit ..

Sid, I really doubt anyone has made or is making all stainless 34 pickup headlights. Are you looking at 32 car lights? Or 34 car lights? Lots of people get confused on these things.

Sid, you are absolutely right. Drake does make Stainless 34 commercial lights for the hot rod market.
Look to be very nice lights, but personally I prefer the painted lights.
