I used to ride my Harley with a group of guys and we'd stop at a bar in this town, I always got a kick out of this hot-sheet motel there, a very apropos name.

I don't know what the hell they are hunting, but I'm pretty sure none of them got away alive.

:D Hi bedwards.Yep dove hunt. That really will test your wing shooting skills.Don`t really look like they are flying fast. But with a tail wind they can be going 60+ mph,and with a kill zone about 1/2 the size of a tennis ball.Either you are damn good,OR you burn a lot of powder for no kills.
    Good luck.Have fun.Be safe.

How about "spot the Willys Aero".
Every time I see a shot of one it reminds me of my youth in the early 60's when I delivered the newspaper to a house that always had a drag car parked in the driveway, don't recall much for detail other than the pie crust slicks sticking out through the cut out wheel openings.

The Manhatten apartments are still here, I currently live well to the right of the picture but in the same vintage apartments, just on the other side of the hill. The JC Penney is still there, but the mall has been demolished, hopefully the repurposing will be done soon. This photo is from 1955 in Oak Ridge, TN. The road running left to right is Wilson St. and the other was made into Tulane. Rutgers Ave is between the Penneys and Manhatten Apts.

I met the lead guitar player for the Kingsmen (Louie Louie) near here a few years ago. They were from that area. Wonder if Kings Rd. had anything to do with their name?

  20. The Starlight Club restaurant and bar, a relic of the 1939-40 World's Fair on Treasure Island, stood out by the highway in Terra Linda until 1963.

  21. King Road pre-dates the Kingsmen - I've never asked Lynn where they came up with the name.
