NO, it's not a friggin needle valve. Where do you get this "info" ??? And look at the knob. CW increases pressure, opposite what you stated in post #24. ???? o_O
Show a pressure profile to prove me wrong, or knock off the false info.

I did work at the original 1926 Studebaker Proving Grounds, which Bendix bought in '66, ( becoming the Bendix Automotive Proving Grounds) and where I started my vehicle testing carrier in '71, retiring with Bosch ownership in '06. We put on many info schools through out the years, both in cl*** room and skid pad dynamic, but  can't recall our conversation at this time, although one or two more Miller Lites may jar my memory. ;)
The ONLY two successful bleeding methods I've ever used, and still use, are pedal and fluid pressure bladder, with both pushing fluid from the master cylinder out to (test transducers/gauges ) and the wheel brake bleeders. Period.
If other methods work for you, great. But I'll stick to, and highly recommend methods that have been proven for my professional employment. We had to be sure all air was fully purged from every vehicle's system before any brake testing began.

Not to stray too far I believe the 2x4 deal was true when doing low budget brake jobs at K mart. The master just like the wheel cylinders developed a "normal" stroke and contaminants, rust or debris settle where stroke isn't happening. Go to bleed the brakes, run that master full stroke to the floor right through all that garbage and chances are you will tear up the MC. That does not apply to a quality brake job where all parts are new and system is chock full of air.

Mitey Vac to vacuum bleed or a pressure bleeder goin from MC to brakes. I heard of the big syringe method, never used it.

we probably did meet face to face when I was there for the cars in the 1980s and later for my DOT truck certs . but we have talked here in PMs several times .

as for the proving grounds , do I have it backwords ??? I swore they said the (Studebaker ) Bendix woods was the second PG and the one west of the plant down by byp*** 20 was the first , I still remember the trees at Bendix woods glad to see they decided to save them as seeing it from a airplane is cool , one of my Ponitac guys who works for Navistar now does work out there as they basically closed the old I-H FT Wayne test track and bought it in 15 .

You're partially correct. There is about a 10 acre field located at the West end of the old Bendix complex (on the Western edge of South Bend) across from what was the trucking division, that was used for very limited Bendix vehicle testing, and had a small low speed oval track approximately 150' x 300'. (The remains are still visible on Google Map) Most testing, however, was done on public roads/highways until the 850 acre Studebaker Proving Grounds and three mile oval track was purchased in '66. About 200 acres of the Western portion was donated to the parks department, becoming Bendix Woods Park, and includes the famous pine tree sign, which is undergoing a long overdue restoration. :)
I, along with other retirees, looked forward and were welcomed to occasional visits and annual get-togethers while Bosch, but that sadly has changed, and now must rely on memories. :(

You are right. I had pulled one of these apart years ago to find a needle valve as I described. I bought a new one for a looksee and they have changed to be more like the OEM style where it limits the pressure. I stand corrected and didn't intend to mislead. Here's a picture of the insides of a new one:

I have the Corvette mc that and disc brakes require pressure system with a cap over the master cylinder and a hand pump to push it through. Maybe you are having the same problem. I'm running disc front drum rear and this requires a pressure balance valve, I'm using an adjustable one from Speedway.

Finally got the sedan back on the road. Bottom Line.... I had a bad master cylinder. The suggestion to gravity bleed the system left me noticing the fluid did not drain when the lines were removed from the mc ports. It's a shame to buy brand new parts that don't work. Many great suggestions for troubleshooting. I appreciated having this group to bounce around ideas to help me out. Thank you. Hope to see you at the HAMB Drags. Maybe I'll get selected to race, now that my car stops great! With new white walls and steelies.
