    I believe this is a photo of one of the front drive Blue Crowns. My understanding is that by 1948 Lou Moore was running standard Winfield (or maybe Rileys?) carburetors on Bill Holland's car and this setup on the Rose car. I can't remember the details but those are aircraft type "pressure carburetors" in the photos; what we would call throttle body injection today. I've been told but I can't remember if these are Holley or Bendix units. I don't think the curved air scoops on the side were ever used during the actual race. Lou Moore's whole winning strategy was based on using high octane aviation gas to get superior mileage to make a single pit stop while still maintaining good horsepower.

    If anyone hear knows more about this I would welcome the information.

    Here's a couple more better shots of the B-C carbs. Looks like they might be Bendix but I'm certainly no authority on old timey carbs.
