I want to replace the rear fenders on the 1937 Ford Pickup and I'm told by many that the Wescott's FG fenders are the ones to buy as they are better quality but they are way out in OR. I live in Evansville IN which is right at the border of Kentucky. Is there any place within a 3 or 4 hour trip that would have the same FG fenders that Wescott's sell or of equal quality that I could drive to pick up? Shipping is very expensive so I'd rather go pick them up if there is some place closer.
I'm sure they can get them for you: A Plus Rod and Kustom 4618 Hwy. 61 North Boonville, IN 47601 Toll Free: 877-734-9616 Local: 812-897-6605 Fax: 812-897-6635
for my `36 coupe i had Wescott send me a rear pair by Fed Ex.....i recall the shipping wasn't too expensive then. that was about 8 years ago
I don't think you will go wrong with the Wescot fenders. They make some of the best fibergl*** pieces out there. Shipping shouldn't be that much as they can ship Fed Ex. I just got a front bumper cover for my OT project that was shipped fedex and it wasn't that bad. It weighed about the same as the fenders would an was in a larger and odd shaped package. I don't see a big NSRA or Goodguys event close enough to make it worth checking to see if they are going to have a booth at it unless you plan to go to Columbus in July. I think they are pretty good at taking along orders for folks to be picked up at events thus saving the shipping but you would have to already be going to make it worth it. You might just want to call or email them and ask if they have a dealer close to you. Still gas for a couple hundred mile road trip and buying food along the way costs just as much as shipping will. Superior just shows Ford fenders for 29 though 34 p***enger. They are 30 miles down the road from Wescott so shipping would be the same. I've looked over their products many times at shows along with looking at the Wescott pieces and both make quality stuff.
Anyway you cut it, someone is paying for shipping to your area. A dealer might get a slightly better rate, buying in bulk, but then will likely mark it up. At the end of the day, get shipping quote, then order your fenders You might get something for less shipping, but likely less quality. How's that going to help?
I'm in the process of installing Wescott fenders on my '40 today. They are excellent quality, and the shipping shouldn't be too bad, even to your location. Just remember; If you want to play you've gotta pay...
Just take an afternoon drive and pick it up yourself, that's what I did. I'm less than a half hour from Wescotts, stop by and pick me up and I'll show you the way. <<<<<<<see my avatar.
I had these Wescott fenders stored for at least 12 years before starting on the project. My bodyman is **** about gaps, they fit perfect !
I used Westcott fenders on both ends of my 32 p/u, but ordered them from Sac Vintage Ford. Cheaper then ordering from manufacturer. Fit and quality were great!!
Don't cry for me Argentina. Have had their 37 rear fenders shipped to Australia and they are a very good product.
You might pay more for shipping to get the Wescott fenders, but you would only pay that once. How much labor is it going to take to get something or lesser quality to fit? Just to save a few bucks in shipping and not be happy for the future years of your project is some thing to consider.
I was a Wescott Dealer for 28 years, they are the best. Here's a tip; after you get them on the way you want them, Put heavy rubberized undercoating in the line of the tires, mask the bolts, for removal. You don't want the rocks that hit the inside of the fenders to cause starburst.
Calculate what a "3 or 4 hour trip" will cost you in fuel. Subtract that from the shipping cost and that will be your net shipping cost. The 3 or 4 hours driving could be spent installing the fenders.
I got some for my 36 from speedway. Good quality, thick, and I got free shipping. I needed to cut mine and widen them anyway Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Can someone tell me how thick the Wescott's fenders are? The ones I currently have are nice and sturdy so maybe I can tell what I have by the thickness.
Lots of times, shipping to a home address is the most expensive option. Ask for a quote to a business address or a terminal for pickup and you might find it quite a but less.
I have set of 4 Wescott fenders on my 39 convert. Almost 30 years old and lots of miles. No cracks there are a few spider webs from rocks but unprotected steel fenders will dent out. So yes undercoat them well and they will last you a lifetime.
thickness DOES NOT cons***ute quality,, with shipping ALWAYS find a business, any business you can have delivered to.. Call it : Zippy's Hot Rod Shop, and have them delivered to yer door, Tell Karl when you order, ship to: Zippy's Hot Rod Shop. Care of: yer name, address, less money
