Hot Rods Ever seen one of these?

found in a plie of junk from a burned car. Branded Taylor made. It's a cigarette lighter and a dash lite. Didn't find any info by google. It would not slip into a standard auto receptacle.

It was sold as a light for reading maps and such. Try unscrewing the lighter element and screwing on the one from your car...I think 6 and 12 volt elements differ slightly in diameter, and I do not remember which way.

 

Taylor was (one of) the maker of those dash top, car comp***es that were popular in the 50/60/70's.

 

Maybe that's what started the fire!

 

Will not unscrew. Maybe this is six volt and that's why it will not fit the tri 5 stuff.

 

It's called a Taylor Chart Lighter. Popular in the 70's in the Marine Industry.

 

I have one . Is there a switch on the top of yours ? will try to get a photo when I remember where I put it .

 

Opened it up and it had a 57 12v bulb in it.

 

They used to sell them as marine accessories for boats
