It`s time to go again and start another project. I`ve been collecting afew `32 parts for a while now, scoring an original ch***is off a good friend years ago and the rest of the bits along the way. I always had the intensions of a 3 window however didn`t really think I`d get one within my budget. Early last year I seen a rough old speedway 3 window body for sale on Instagram and went for it. It ticked afew boxes being it had an unfilled roof and cowl vent. I had already planed to go to the Fathers Day show so the timing was good. Being a cut up POS also worked well with transport around LA and shipping over to Australia. I`ve finally got the roadster mostly sorted and shed space cleared to start another project so here we go again. The original pics of the body from its past life. I scored afew parts for the project at the swap meeting and also picked up Brookville Sub rails and rocker panels, loaded it all in our F150 and headed to the shippers. A big thanks to my brother for bringing the parts up from Victoria to Queensland so I could get it mocked up and make a start. The rough plan is; Fenders and hood Flathead, 3 speed and Columbia rear - I want to do miles in this one. Original ch***is with flattened cross members Lincoln brakes Roof chopped afew inches above the top hinge
It always amazes me how Bad as young guys We could screw things up just to have a little fun. Then along comes a new generation willing to un Screw it all in the name of Fun. You guys are priceless. Sorry you have to start with as close to S**** Iron as we could make things. Ya know back 40 - 50 years it just didn't matter. They were all just Old Heaps even with pretty fair paint, usable upholstery and could run with just a little Tweeking. We knew we had it good, just didn't know how good. I can't tell ya how many cars I bought for $20.oo and drove home. A few premo ones for all of $50.oo. Heck I stepped up and paid $35.oo for my 50 Merc even with a clutch that slipped a bit. Ya, those were some Good Days. Best of luck to ya and once again Sorry. The Wizzard
Cool old modified oval tracker. If you happen to get some pix of it in it's former life, I'd love to see them, too. Have fun, Gary
When you said "Speedway" body I figured you meant a fibergl*** body from Speedway Motors, but this is a legit '32 3W coupe and well worth fixing, even in it's rough state. I'll be watching as this one comes together, I like your plans for it too.
The reason for the popularity of 32 Fords and 55 Chevys was that they were cheap, available and accepted up graded power plants easily. Demand has now driven the price sky high.
